  1. Thank you all for your advice! I will definitely seek out the NRP and S.T.A.B.L.E. courses.
  2. Thank you for your input. Yes, you're right about the NRP... I've recently looked into places that offer the class... with little success. Now, in your opinion, would a year of med/surge make a difference or should I maybe apply right into NICU?
  3. I've been a nurse for 2 and a half years with a BSN. I have ACLS, need to get PALS. I am charge, doing long term care with pediatrics (infant to age 30)... work with vents/GT/ostomy/some IV's/rare diseases/congenital diseases/end of life/some cardiac/some psych/ lots of seizure disorders. Now I am also doing home care for a 23 weeker who is now "5 months old" and was released from the NICU - HighTech: trached/vented/GT/question of some syndromes. I am one of those nurses who genuinely wants to work in every field and do/learn everything, but I am really being drawn to becoming a NICU nurse. Before I had this NICU epiphany, I was thinking of working med/surge for a year and then going from there. In your opinion, do I have enough experience to get into a NICU and/or what path should I follow to get there? Thank you! And thank you NICU nurses for doing what you do!
