  1. May I aske what made you chose WGU over Capella? I can't decide between the 2.
  2. I am very overwhelmed by all of the options for online RN to BSN programs. Which school would you choose / which school do you recommend? I would like a fully online program that does not require clincials. I am already and RN.
  3. Does anyone have any experience with an online Associates registered nurse to masters in nursing program? Are there any specific schools / programs you recommend? I live in Temecula, CA. I am not sure if that matters or not. I've heard some programs are part online and part in class. I would love to hear about your experience with an online school and why you would or would not recommend it.
  4. That would make sense, but no I didn't flush the balloon port.
  5. No it was deflated. I found the the Cath laying near his member with it deflated.
  6. This is going to sound dumb but what does occ stand for?
  7. I'm in a new patients home (private duty LPN)... He has a Foley catheter in... The order is to flush it every 2 hours with 60 cc... I had just started my shift and it was time to irrigate. I did. However, the patient yelled in extreme pain. I had no idea what was going on because I was irritating it correctly. I didn't even finish putting all 60 cc in because he was in extreme pain. I come back a few mins later and the catheter had completely come out! Why would this have happened? What could have caused the extreme pain and then for it to come out? I had to put a new Foley in. I'm scared to irrigate it for fear of this happening.
  8. I am a LPN. I was in RN school but had to miss days due to sickness and am being terminated. I'm looking for career options for LPN that maybe I'm not aware of. I've done assisted living & private duty my whole career. Other than this and nursing homes what other jobs and jobs that pay decent are open to us? I'm thinking of getting out of being a LPN all together. If I do this what would be some careers that would be easier to transfer into? I'm willing to go to school.
  9. Hi everyone. I'm a LPN. I was in a bridge LPN to RN program. I was passing. However, I had to miss two clinical days due to sickness. I'm being kicked out of the program due to this. I'm devastated. My school usually does not admit students again after they have been kicked out. I am a LPN but this doesn't make enough money for me to support myself and I'm honestly not happy being a LPN. I'm looking at different career options. I'm curious as to what you guys would recommend.
  10. Here.I.Stand, RN Thank you. I appreciate your kindness.
  11. Thanks for being so sympathetic to someone who is potentially dieing. I could never treat another being like that.
  12. Please just leave me alone.
  13. You have me in tears. I'm not sure why you would treat someone you've never met this way. I am dealing with cancer. I don't need someone making me feel worse.
  14. I've answered you twice now. Please don't comment anymore. I don't wish to be treated like a dog. I'm kindly asking you to leave my thread.
  15. I did answer you right after you asked me (look under your question). Yes, I am a new nurse. I'm just asking for help. You don't have to be mean to me.
  16. What about the sodium though? Would that be incorrect?
  17. Oh ok! Thank you! Yes it's private duty.
  18. sodium answer because I've read that they should cut back on sodium. Like in the following article. Is that not true? 5 Common Food Myths for People with Diabetes Debunked | Joslin Diabetes Center For the Tylenol questions my only 2 options were to either tell the mother I can't give it or to tell the mother I can't give it, but tell her that she can. I just wasn't sure if I could tell her she could give it. I guess I'm being too cautious and second guessing myself.
  19. The first one I'm really confused about... If I tell the mother it's ok to give the tylenol then some sort of reaction happens wouldn't it be my fault?
  20. Yea I knew the hand washing but I always second guess myself on everything. Can anyone else help me out?
  21. Nope she just said I missed 10. I doubt they'll tell me the answers since I can retake the test.
  22. 1- I put A 2-A 3-call doc 4-weight, frequency, amount, site 5-Limit vit K 6- limit carbs and sodium 7- I can't remember if all of the above was an option. I either put that or gloves. I know I've messed these up. I am a new nurse.
  23. I took a pre-employment quiz a few days ago and failed it I'm eligible to go back and re-take the test, but I still don't know the correct answers to some of the questions. Please help! I'll try to remember them as much as I can. -You have a private duty patient who is in pain. Tylenol is not ordered, but the mother says that the patient has taken it many times. Do you A. Tell the mother you can not give the tylenol because it isn't ordered B. Tell the mother you can't give the tylenol but she can -If a patient says to you, "I feel bad and my heart is pounding". Do you chart it as: A. Pt c/o feeling bad with heart palpitations B. Pt states, "I feel bad and my heart is pounding" -If a patient has pain with cloudy urine. Should you A. Call the doctor B. Tell the pt to drink more water then check them tomorrow What should you take into account when getting a subQ injections ready.. Weight? Frequency given? Amount? Anything else? What is the BEST way for a nurse to prevent transmission of infectious diseases? A.Gloves B.Wash hands C.Mask D.All of the above I can't remember anymore
