  1. Hello, all! I am an LVN in Dallas, TX with over a year of nursing experience under my belt, looking to attend a LVN-RN bridge program asap. Can anyone please share their experiences [or any information heard] on point cut-off's/requirements for TVCC, El Centro, NCTC, Weatherford, Collin, Navarro, and other colleges located in the surrounding areas? Of course, I plan to speak with the college counselors and nursing program coordinators, but am just trying to get a better idea of where to start. Hearing about other people's experiences helps. I am aware the cut off's at each school vary each year, but I have heard the bridge programs usually have lower cut off's & especially during the spring semester application periods. Please share any advice that you are able...Thank you in advance!!!
  2. I am applying to TVCC this fall and worried about the point system for the LVN-RN bridge program. . the maximum amount of points is 14 but I am not sure where the cut off usually runs. I am trying to figure out what my chances are of actually getting accepted (though I will put in my application regardless). Does anyone have any advice or knowledge on this? I am also looking to apply to other LVN-RN programs in the Dallas, TX area that do not require college algebra/statistics or chemistry. . I haven't taken either of those courses yet, and to be honest I am just in a hurry to get my RN license so that I will at least have more career opportunities in this area while I go back to school for my BSN.. [the Dallas area job market is extremely competitive for us new LVN's!] So far it looks as though Trinity valley, El Centro, Collin, and Weatherford do not require these courses. . Please give your honest opinions, suggestions, and feel free to share any personal experiences. Thanks in advance!!
  3. Hello all! I am a LVN with 3.5 months of experience as a charge nurse at a skilled nursing facility. I am moving to the Dallas area soon and have been applying around online and have yet to hear anything back from any of the facilities I have applied to?! I can not go unemployed for very long, as I already do not have much experience to begin with [just graduated December 2013] and feel that wont look very good! Worried and needing advice.
  4. TWishes, do you know of anyone that has attended this program? I would like to know more about it!
  5. Could anyone please share their experiences with the NCTC lvn-rn bridge program? I am considering applying for fall 2014 and would like some input. :)
  6. It really helps to hear other people's stories and to know that I'm not alone. I am doing my best to stay positive and keep pushing forward/working toward my dream, as that is all I can do at this point! & besides, it definitely can't hurt to have much more "real-world" experience going back in to nursing school, once I get back on track..Thank you :)
  7. I am a new grad LVN and am currently feeling a little bit lost as to which step to take next. I am not having much luck with finding a good lvn-rn bridge program, and got lucky just to land a good LTC job meanwhile. The thing is, I don't want to spend many more years in school or "waste precious time." I have completed all of my nursing prereq's from a community college, but most schools I have checked in to [as though nursing schools aren't competitive enough as it is] require 6 months to a year in med-surg experience on top of everything else. A lvn-adn program should take approx 1 year or so to complete, as should an adn-bsn program. (So I would prefer to only spend about 2.5-3 years tops on obtaining my bsn). I don't want to spend years just waiting to get into an lvn transition program, when I could simply go back and complete a generic rn program instead in the same amount of time. If only I had known before how complicated things would be for a new grad LVN with no work experience
  8. I am a new LVN needing help finding a good LVN-RN program in the DFW area. I currently am working in LTC and am not having much luck finding a med-surg job. Nearly all of the schools I have looked in to require 6 months to a year of med-surg experience prior to admission to the bridge program.. (& most med-surg jobs require 6 months to a year of exp. prior to applying for a job?)...I would like to be able to apply/begin a bridge program by the time the spring 2015 semester rolls around if possible.. I am feeling a bit discouraged about getting accepted into a bridge program within the next year, and really hoping that I did not "waste my time" going to LVN school...It seems that I would have better luck/finish school quicker if I just go back and complete a generic RN program instead...the lvn-rn transition process is simply not turning out to be as smooth as I was informed that it would be.. almost everyone from my lvn class is having the same problem as well.. any suggestions??
