  1. Have you ever been interrupted with another question when trying to answer the initial question? Or been interrupted while explaining something or telling somebody why something is happening but keep getting interrupted? How can you possible keep your patience when this happens? Well, I am that person. I can't wait for an entire answer to be given before I'm asking another question. Here's you chance to share your frustrations. Please tell me how this makes you feel. As nI study effective communication I know that I 'm a terrible listener, its my ugly little secret, my skeleton in the closet. I've tried so many things to stop interrupting, all unsuccessful. I'm worried no one will appreciate or value my contributions as a team member because I always interrupt.
  2. Yes, I see what you are saying, I am earning my degree in nursing in hopes of becoming a registered nurse one day. I look forward to the day I accept my first position which I anticipate being on the med/surg floors to gain experience. The pathway to the ICU (not iICU) is a distant goal. For now I am still discovering the multitude of areas to choose from in the profession. There's a ton! I was listening to a new nurse talk about home health nursing, not sure why anyone would want the autonomy that comes from being a home health nurse as a beginning nurse. I would be fearful. Perhaps there's enough field support I don't know.
  3. Just finishing the education to obtain a degree in registered nursing. I have a strong desire to one day work in the iICU setting. What's the best pathway to gain the experience and knowledge that will make me the best ICU nurse I can be?
  4. Fellow student RNs, I'm getting ready to begin my second professional career as a registered nurse. I had been a teacher for nearly 11 years and hold a master's degree in education. Although I maintain an active license to teach, in a matter of a few months I will be taking the boards and interviewing for my first position in the medical field. I want to make a strong impression and feel that my background in education may be a significant highlight as nursing has such a strong patient education component. I'm looking for input from other individuals that may have found themselves in the same position and how they made connections with previous degrees and newly acquired degrees in the medical field.
