That's kind of what I am afraid of. Our hospital currently does a lot of charity work, and serves a very wide variety of people. We have another company in town who is already for profit and they divert all the homeless people, and low income to our hospitals. Doesn't sound like it will leave many options for a large portion of our patients.

I'm sorry, I'm still new to this and have not figured out how to yet ?

Our new orthopedic orders call for Reglan every 6 hours, and Zofran every 8 hours for about the first 48 hours post op. I think it would probably work except that those same orders have us giving PO meds as soon as they get on the floor, and a lot of times these patients don't have bowel tones. I do believe that we see less post op nausea this way then we did before though.

Yuck... absolutely not. To sit in a dark room and listen to somebody snore all night long... I could never stay awake. And if they are not sleeping they are constantly trying to crawl out of bed and breaking your back or pulling at there lines. I do not envy them at all. Although I do have a few Aids that absolutely love doing it- I guess for those quiet nights that they can just fight off sleep, but it's not for me!

Our hopsitals are being bought out by a company called CHS. Seems how they are a rather large company I was hoping that some people who work in CHS hospitals could give me some idea of what we can expect. Especailly if you have worked in a hopsital that was not previously owned by CHS and now is. We are currently a not for profit hospital, and sounds like we will become a for profit- which I believe means we don't have any not for profit hospitals in our city anymore. Any ideas how this will be affecting our community?
