  1. Also Cook Children's has a bone marrow transplant unit and so does Methodist Children's in San Antonio. Both of these units require you rotate into regular pedi hem/onc too. I worked for Cook last summer as an extern in those units and I have got to say, that is the NICEST most CONTEMPORARY hospital you'll ever see. It's beautiful, every detail is thought out. There's a build-a-bear workshop, Chick-fil-a, and ice cream parlor inside the hospital. There's a recording studio for the kids and a craft/cooking channel too. It's amazing.
  2. I'm just a Texas girl that's been comfortable down here for 23 years. I graduated with my BSN in December and went straight on into graduate school for my MSN in Nurse Education with Duke University. I opted for the distance program in order to be able to work wherever I want. I am trying to forward my career as much as possible. I have a job offer in San Antonio with Methodist Children's in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant. I interviewed yesterday at St. Jude in Memphis and I'm afraid I have a really hard choice coming up. I'm scared to death to leave my support system. I know nobody up there, and I know nothing about the city. My question is: can anybody give me a good idea of what its like to work for St. Jude? I'm trying to weigh this out. Is working up there for a little while, away from everything I know, possibly subjecting myself to some loneliness and tears, worth it for MY CAREER? Don't know much about Methodist Children's reputation either...
