  1. Hello, I am an LPN. I had a job interview with Amedysis Health Care yesterday and they offer $24 per visit with 6-8 clients a day, when census is low, which she said is rare, it would be 4-5 pts a day, plus .45 per mile between homes. Insurance bi-weekly would be around $400, 4 hrs pto time bi-weekly. SHe offered, I accepted. On the way ome I got a call from another company that I had been trying to get an interview with for months. Most of their clients are medicare. They offered $13.10 per visit, if it is medicare and they say you can be in the home for 1.55 hrs and it only takes 45 min, you get paid for the full 1.55 hrs. Medicaid you get paid $13.10 straight. You also get .50 a mile and paid drive time $13.10. About $500 bi-weekly for insurance and 8 hrs pto bi-weekly. With the way the 2nd place pays I am having a hard time figuring out if I would be taking a big drop in pay or not. I currently work in a prison, have for 5 yrs and am burnt out on it, plus I moved an hr away and it costs me $100 a week for gas, I make $18.96 here. I miss the compassion and warmth in regular nursing. My heart is saying the 2nd place, but my head is saying I can't get paid less than what I do now to pay my bills.
  2. I ordered the CHPN exam book, should I have ordered the CHPLN instead?
  3. I have been an LPN for 8 yrs. Never thought I would want to do hospice, never thought I could handle it, but after going through my dad's cancer and eventually hospice, I feel it is something I need and want to do. Like something in my heart is telling me that is where I need to be. I have read about the CHPN test and not sure if an LPN can take the CHPN test. I live in Indiana if that matters.
