nipissing university RPN to BScN blended option
Hi I was wondering if anyone else is starting this program or is already in it. I have recently gotten accepted to this program. Is anyone out there doing this program or completed it? How are things like OSCE's assessed if it is by distance education? Also can I complete it before the 5 year point because I am not working full time hours and have a lot more time to put into school (new grads never get full time hours as we all know). Would love to hear from people who are in the program!

anybody here working for two staffing agencies the same time?
This is slightly unrelated but what are some staffing agencies that I can apply to?

Should I start applying to job postings?
hey relaxing bath. Did you get a job offer at your pregrad placement? You should try applying there since it's the highest chance of you getting a job. I know people who have been applying since before their pregrad finished, which is actually the most ideal. To be honest, internal applicants always get preference in hospital especially HHS so external applicants are generally a last resort. The best way of getting a job is if you know someone or have clinical there, I applied to a previous clinical placement I had and the manager told me she had over 200 applications for a single position!

Passed CRNE on 4th attempt
is this for real? Getting amazed by your own intelligence?

Can't find a job :(
yeah I understand I've applied pretty much anywhere and everywhere I am not picky, I've even applied to positions that are over 5 hours away from me. Persistence is key I guess

Pediatrics?!
thanks for clarifying, during my practical nursing program I was always told that RPNs do not work in peds by instructors.

Can't find a job :(
thanks vintage! I will, it's just so discouraging because internal applicants to HHSC and St.Joes are always given preference over external applicants, especially new graduates. Also do you have any tips on finding clinical managers emails? As opposed to phone numbers. It's almost impossible to reach them in person as they are usually not in their office.

Pediatrics?!
You would have to complete your degree to work in pediatrics. I know McMaster children's hospital and Sick Kids do not hire RPNs

finding a suitable nursing job in canada
Clinics usually do not hire nurses who have no had experience working in a hospital. I would suggest you apply to hospitals and see how it goes, it's extremely difficult to find a job here. Many graduates from Canada wait 6months to a year before securing a positions post graduation. good luck Also for teaching you would need at least 4 years of experience working in an acute care setting (hospital) in Canada.

Can't find a job :(
I know I am a new graduate nurse and should not be worried about this yet as I have to write my licensing exam in a week (I am a new graduate rpn) but I have student loans I want to pay off and I just can't live without working. I have been applying for positions since before I graduated and have heard nothing. I have even personally called managers and went to their offices to hand in my resume, they were all very impressed and told me they would give me an interview but internal applicants always get preference. I have yet to land one interview, unfortunately my pre-graduate floor is RN dominated and they had already done a mass hiring prior to my arrival on the floor. I don't know what to do, how else do I make myself stand out. I am from the Hamilton/Niagara area.

rpn/lpn to RN fastest option
Hi I'm currently completing my rpn program in Ontario and would like to complete my degree. I was wondering if anyone else on here has successfully completed their degree and how long did bridging take you? What would be the fastest route to complete my degree? I am not limiting myself to just Ontario programs.
