  4. Thanks for the recommendations. I will be accepting the offer to mother baby. I am trying to type up a resignation letter now. I think that I need to give it a try. I might never know how much I may love it. Because I sure don't like med surg much. Believe it or not I worked yesterday on med surg and my nurse manager called me into the office to review some paperwork and my hand was on under my chin and none of my preceptor paperwork was complete. Instantly she told me am I tired. I told her no and why did she think that. (I really was burnt out that day)She said because you are in your nurse directors office and your hand is under your chin and that If I do not want to be there let her know today because she invested a lot of time and money training me and the floor is a heavy floor to work on. I told her I don't want to leave but she told me to think about it. I think that was the universe/God answering my question. Any input. Thanks
  5. Hello my fellow nurses. I m RN with two years of med surg exp. I took a 8 month break after this due to pregnancy reasons and its taken about 6 months to find a job. Baby is now 15 months. I found a med surg tele job recently. I have been working there for bot 3-4 weeks in training. I have also recently been hired to a mother baby position not affiliated with the hospital. Should I stay in med surg with this high stress and over worked environment or give mother baby a try. Cons is that mother baby is an 45 min to an hour from home while the med surg position is 15 min away from home. Pay is about the same. Mother baby pays ten dal more a day. Pease advise me. I WANT TO TRY MOTHER BABY BUT THE DRIVE AND DISAPPOINTING MY NURSE MANAGER ON MED SURG WHO WAS SO SWEET TO HIRE ME KINDA HURTS. BUT I WANT TO DO WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY.I CAN SEE POSSIBIITY OF ADVANCEMENT AT THE MED SRG POSITION TOO.BUT WHO IS TO SAY MOTHER BABY DOES NOT HAVE ADVANCEMENT, I HAVE YET TO KNOW.PLEASE ADVISE ME NURSES.
  6. Stacylee, is there anyway I can speak to you more in depth about the program? e-mail, text, skype, ANYTHING. Have so much more to ask and would like to speak to you if that's ok.
  7. Stacylee Thanks you helped me a lot!!
  8. What time does class start and end? Remember I work 3 nights/12 hours each a week.Barry classes are once a week. I guess loans will be the answer for that 40k. Any idea as to which is more rigorous.
  9. I have been accepted to Barry and UM the part time program .I live in north miami. I am conflicted because I don't know which to choose. Both seem so similar. UM pros: shorter program 1.5-2 years, they choose clinical sites and start in January 2015 which is good for me so that I can catch up on some reading. Cons:Long drive more than two hours back and forth from home(I will be moving to Pembroke Pines soon), HARDER than Barry? And Barry University's pros are: closer distance(15 min from home), starts in August, Easier than UM? Cons would be the program is longer 2.5-3 years, I must choose clinical sites. Both have similar cost $38,000-$40,700 for the entire program. Can you give me some second eyes as to what I may not be seeing? Maybe there is more to this decision making. Which would you choose if you were in this situation and viewing all pros and cons? Thanks lots in advance for your needed advice.
  10. Wow.Thanks for the input and heads up. Would you say they do a weeding out process? Or most of the people whom you start with you have ended with? Teachers are mean or do they work well with the students?I guess it's doable. Well i'm proud of you! Hopefully you finish soon.
  11. Hey Stacylee.I have just began a new night job full time 3 days, 12 hours a night. I also applied to the one year family nurse practitioner program at UM. Do you think its doable to work nights three nights a week and complete the one year program? Thanks in advance. Do you know anyone working full time?
