At the hospital I worked out nurses that were BSN prepared were the only ones allowed to be promoted to higher positions. ADN nurses could be charge nurses, but that was it. One of the charge nurses I worked under had to go back to school to move up in her position. So BSN prepared nurses are the ones who will eventually end up with more responsibility.

In every other profession it seems people make more money when they have had more education. So I think that BSN prepared nurses should make more than ADN prepared nurses because they have put in more time. Physician assitants and nurse practitioners have similar roles to doctors, but because doctors have been educated longer they make more money. It should be the same for nursing.

Yes, I'm going to U of P this fall. I got the Providence Scholarship so I am very excited! I applied to OHSU also, but didn't get in there. I find the criteria for getting into nursing school so strange. I have a 3.9 GPA and am a CNA but sometimes those things just aren't enough! Looking forward to seeing other UP students in August!!! :chuckle
