Regret
Hi everyone, I have to decide whether or not I am going to take the leap to complete a second degree bsn program. I have been accepted to two reputable schools. I currently am a certified public accountant. I have been working as a CPA for five years, but have thought about becoming a nurse since my last year in college. It has always been on my mind and felt like a degree I should pursue, but I just find myself getting so nervous and questioning myself when I think about actually taking the leap. I went so far as to purchase my books for an accelerated second degree program last year only to defer my admission at the last minute. My question is, has anyone gone for their second degree and regretted it? Did anyone go for their second degree with a pit in their stomach and realized it was the best thing they could have done? I really would appreciate any input.

Wilkes University or Misericordia University
Wow. That really surprised me. I have heard differently from both schools about employment after graduation. Why are they flooded? Do you have any coworkers that went to either school that would have a program preference?

Thank you for your response! It is great to hear such positive feedback. Did you complete the part time evening program? Were you able to work full time while in the program? What field were you in prior to pursuing your second degree? Did you feel Misericordia offered good clinical experience? What year did you graduate that you were able to find a position so soon after graduation? Thank you for your help!

I have been accepted in to two accelerated second degree BSN programs. The two universities I have been accepted in to are Wilkes University and Misericordia University. They are both located in Pennsylvania. Does anyone have any feedback on either schools nursing program? Please let me know if you have attended either and how you felt about the program, how prepared you were after school, and any other information you feel would be helpful. Thank you!

Why is nursing school "hard?"
I am so glad you asked this question! I am a CPA and am beginning an accelerated bsn program also. This is really helpful and I am happy to hear another accountant following their heart!

accepted to two accelerated programs
I have been accepted to two different accelerated second degree bsn programs. One program begins in May 2014 and consists of night classes/clinical Monday and Wednesday from 5pm-11pm. The program is completed over two fall semesters, two spring semesters, and three summer semesters. It is part-time. I would obtain my BSN in August 2016. The second program beings in August 2014 and is full time for one fall semester, one spring semester, and one summer semester. I would obtain my BSN in August 2015. All other variables aside (whether I can work or not, cost of the program, etc.), I am looking for some insight as to which program to choose strictly on the amount of time it takes to complete the program. I am torn between whether it is beneficial to just leave my current career, rip the bandage off quickly, jump right into a full time program, and earn my degree in one year, or hang in there with my current career while making the commitment to attend school in the evenings for the next two and a half years. Any advice from current students or those who have already earned their BSN would be appreciated!
