  1. I am actually seeking advice for my husband. My husband got his GED and joined the Army and was in Preventive Medicine. Now he is out and completing his prerequisites for nursing at a community college. He hopes to go to a state university to complete the BSN program. He really wants to be a nurse and would be very good at it. The problem is he has a GPA about 2.4, which is not great. He finally started getting his act together and last semester got 3 A's but also an F. He has a D in Anatomy and Physiology II and has to take it over. There are hints that he may have mild ADD and he is being evaluated. I'm at wits end because I thought he would be in nursing school by this fall. We have a new baby and I am supporting the family. I have been reading some of these forums and have noticed that people with great GPAs are not getting into school. I do not think he should give up. He may choose to do an AA in nursing then get his BSN, but even that is hard to get into. He is pretty devastated. He is VERY smart and nursing is his number one desire. I just don't know what to tell him and I can't handle all this waiting. I need serious realistic advice on this issue please. Can he realistically still get into a nursing program. If so, what can he do, besides raising his GPA, to make himself more competitive?
