  1. Hello all. I’m currently a BSN student going into my junior year, during this past semester I failed one of my nursing courses by .5 points! Very upsetting since I have not failed any courses prior. I am currently in a grade appeal and the dean is reviewing everything, my chances of getting the passing grade after my meeting seem decent. However, I want out of my current school for many reasons, one being the 2 hour commute. I want to apply for schools in my area however, with a current D+ on my transcript I am not applying. My question is do I wait until my appeal is final, or do I apply to schools now even with the D+ to meet the deadlines? I feel even with a High TEAS score, I will still struggle with that grade! Anyone been in this boat?
  2. I need some solid advice in a horrible position, I moved 3 hours away from home with my family to attend a BSN program, however I am currently failing the most important class I am taking this is completely due to my lack of motivation and focus. My professor has told me I could either withdrawal last day is next week, or stay in the class and try my best of the last few exams and assignment to pass but I will have to make HIGH marks. Which at this point I feel is impossible, moving down here has been very hard on my family, we are currently without a home and living in a room with some family an hour away from my school. Nothing is going right so it is hard to focus, I am currently waiting on another program where I am from to get back to me went for an interview this month. It will be easier on my family to move back home, if I don't get in I will have to retake this class in the summer. So my main question is, should I withdrawal completely out of this college if I don't hear back from the other school, or stay in?? I don't want a bad nursing grade on my transcripts, which is the only reason I would withdrawal, my professor already told me I should stay in so I know what to expect next time around if I don't pass. But I don't think that would be a good idea in the long run. Any advice is helpful! I am so stressed and depressed. I don't want to give up on nursing.
  3. The hospitals in my area right now only want BSNs, I am currently in a major city. However, where the diploma program is located they still hire ADNs and Diploma nurses, but are now preferring BSNs. I know I would be able to get my BSN after, but I'm more worried about the cost and also the time. If it will take me 2 years to complete it wouldn't be worth it?
  4. Ok so here is the deal, to make a long story shorter. I am in my mid 20s a mom of a toddler, I have wanted to be a nurse since I was 13. Graduated high school and screwed up at my local college, fast forward a couple years I finally got into a BSN program, bad part it was over 2 hours away. So before I fully committed to moving, I applied to a Diploma RN program top 5 in my state, I passed the exam however, they decided to pick others and put me on a waitlist. Now the hospital wants to bring me in for an interview, so if I were to be offered a spot in this program should I drop the BSN? Reasons why, diploma program is less than a year and cost is far less! However, there would only be a semester difference in my graduation year for my BSN I would be done 20' Diploma is 19'. At first I thought if I got into the hospital I would drop my BSN, and go for it after I graduated. But now I just don't know! Any advice would help, in a pickle! ( I know the BSN is the degree I truly need, but it's the situation I'm in that is making it hard.
  5. That's what gets me in A&P 1 and 2, my psych classes, chemistry, sociology, i have either As or Bs. Its because of the 4 Cs i have, another that is not related to the nursing major that ruined my GPA. If i retake those classes only, and got As in them at the new school would it change my chances? i'm not too sure on how a new colleges looks at transfers who do not have 4.0 before hand. It really is stressing me out :/ didn't want to retake all those classes at my old colleges, felt it would look bad.
  6. Hello everyone! I wanted to make this post because i am a little confused on how transferring works. The college i attend now i have almost completed all of my pre-req RN classes, but i only have a 2.9 gpa :/ i am moving and will have to transfer, i have heard that when you do your gpa is 0. If that is the case i am planning to take a class, and try my best to get an A, which wil make my gpa there a 4.0. Well thats the plan anyways! lol If i were to do that, would i have a better chance of getting into a program? or will they see my old gpa, with all the classes for the pre-req already done, and base it off that??
