Texas Tech 2nd Degree 2016 Cohort?
I didn't get accepted last year. I did get interviewed though. I have applied again for this year. I assume they'll ask me mostly the same questions as last year. They will probably want to know what I have done to improve for this year. They encourage people to keep reapplying. I applied for Austin last year and this year I applied for everywhere except for Amarillo and Odessa.

Texas Tech 2nd Degree 2016 Cohort?
@snwbal41786 My questions last year were very simple and easy. They first asked me why I want to be a nurse? What got me interested in nursing? They asked what kind of support I have to get me through the program and how I would I manage my time. They also asked me what specialty I saw myself working in. Where do I see myself in 5-10 years and what hospitals do I live near. I think that was it. At some points the conversation kind of just flowed and at other times it was a straight question they had. They were all veryy nice. I almost found myself being too friendly rather than professional.

Texas Tech 2nd Degree 2016 Cohort?
I can't remember when I got invited for an interview last year but my interview was on Aug. 28th for the Austin location. I think I found out about a week before. It feels like a lifetime though! Hopefully we find out just a tad bit sooner this year

Texas Tech 2nd Degree 2016 Cohort?
Good, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only person thinking we didn't need the Anatomy and Physiology exam. I applied to Texas State Round Rock but I was denied because I have taken general chemistry 3 times...really I started and dropped after a week after I realized I needed the introductory course for a refresher. Then I actually took it and retook it. We don't need that advanced chemistry for this though so I am happy with my introductory grade. I was pretty surprised though. I also applied to the two year at Texas Tech but really didn't want it since it is not a 2nd degree. I applied to ACC's surgical tech program hoping it would be a stepping stone into this program if I don't get in again. Have you applied anywhere else km1983? I wanted to apply to TCU's 2nd degree but don't have the religious courses.

Did anyone else get an e-mail that says "Our Task Force has decided to not require the Anatomy & Physiology exam, this year" ? I know it is probably right I just really don't want to be missing anything.

Texas Tech 2nd Degree 2016 Cohort?
Oh and the one that got in without experience and a high TEAS has two children. So having kids wasn't a problem as far as getting into the program.

Texas Tech 2nd Degree 2016 Cohort?
Km1983 I did not get that much more experience this last year because I was taking classes to try and get into other programs :/ I am taking a Pharmacology course this summer though and volunteering at Round Rock Medical Center so I hope that helps. Two of my close friends got into the program and one of them had no experience what so ever except she did start being a CNA right after receiving it. That was in March, we were in the same class together. So by the time she was interviewed she had a few months of CNA experience. I know that some people in my pool of applicants had applied a lot. It was some peoples 3rd or 4th year. It is really competitive...I honestly can't remember but I thinkk it was around 150-180 applicants and then 45-50 interviews or so and then I think 35-40 or so got in. To be honest there were a lot of numbers jumping around. Maybe someone currently in the program will shed some light on that. I wouldn't be too worried about having a child. I think I made a big deal of the fact that I had a daughter and was really just focused on that and how I will have enough help. They told me two people with children had already dropped out that year during my interview and that made me really nervous. They tell you that the program is so so busy you will need someone to do things for you like laundry, cooking, ect. I am not sure if that is true or to scare you because the actual students told me it is a lot of work but not that bad. That you will have time to do the laundry. Their are just some crazy weeks. I wish you the best! Hopefully we both get in! Oh and the TEAS is easyy. I just didn't study at all before it....I think that's where my 83.3 came from. If I reviewed things it would of been higher so I recommend that or their are a lot of free practice exams online that would help a lot. My friend got a 98 and she said all she did was practice test after practice test to review.

Texas Tech 2nd Degree 2016 Cohort?
Hey guys! I applied to the Austin location since I live here but said I am willing to go to the Lubbock, Dallas, or Abeliene location. I applied last year and received an interview but was not accepted. It was pretty disappointing because I am a Texas Tech Alum. I have an 84% on my TEAS V, a 3.0 prereq, and a 3.5 science. I have my CNA and BLS and only have 2 semesters of volunteer service in the ER at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock. My downfall was being nervous and almost desperate to get in during the interview. Also, I have a 14 month old that was only about 6 months during my interview. She is my first child and I think they were a little worried about the schooling and being a new mother. They told me to get more experience and apply again. Hoping for the best this year!

Texas State University Fall 2015
I havnt received anything at all. I'm surprised cause I thought they send out denials, acceptances, and wait lists.

Texas State University Fall 2015
I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't get it either but I looked at the forum for last year and some people who didn't get it last year were accepted and some people who did receive it didn't get in so I don't think it really matters when.

Texas State University Fall 2015
Hey everyone! I am also applying to the fall 2015 TX State SON. My stats are not up to date so I am waiting to post them until late December. I already took the TEASV back in February when I was applying to Texas Techs 2nd degree BSN program and I had not studied at all so they aren't worth discussing. I am taking the exam December 30th and have been studying really hard for them! So hopefully it all pays off. My GPA is overal a 3.0 which isn't good but my science is a 3.5 without taking Biology yet. That is the only class I have left to take. I graduated from Texas Tech University Spring of 2014 with a bachelors in Human Sciences. I am a CNA and BLS certified. I am very nervous about getting in mostly because my GPAs but I hope that my new TEAS scores and experience plus the references I have pay off. pixielady it is so nice of you to take time out of your schedule to talk with us! I was wondering what clinicals are like as far as schedules? Also, how do you like the program in general?

Texas Tech 2nd degree BSN program 2015
Heyy I haven't been on here in a little while either but I also got a denial letter late Friday evening. I was quite surprised too but also feel God has a plan for me and did not want me doing this. I am going through with a 2 year at either Texas Tech or Texas State Round Rock. Good luck to everyone that is in the program and congratulations!!

Texas Tech 2nd degree BSN program 2015
For Lubbock people. I applied to Austin but I did just graduate from Texas Tech and spent 4 years there. I lived at University Pointe off Glenna Goodacre my first year and then the Republic at Lubbock the next three. I DO NOT recommend Upointe and I would recommend the Republic especially cause my 2nd and 3rd year there was quite quiet but it tends to be a party place. I don't know what your each looking to spend but I would take a look at the Centre and the Suites at Overton park. It can be noisy around game days but a lot of professionals live there. My friend lived next door to a surgeon so that pretty cool to talk to him sometimes. Anyways other than that I recommend what duffel0521 said about living off 4th street across from HSC. I know that there is an apartment complex over there that is only for graduate students and might let you stay. I actually think it might be The Edge I can't remember.
