  1. I have been a CRNA for 6 years and recently posted on this board about an extraneous inquiry from becoming a CRNA. However, I am pretty annoyed. All these threads have SRNA's and CRNA's acting like they're "holy-art-though" and shooting peoples dreams down. I got into this career when I was 30 years old and knew this is exactly what I wanted to do from day 1. No, I did not like med surge or CVICU nursing. Guess what, I HATED nursing school. I wouldn't accept that was what I had to for my whole life. I had a passion for anesthesia from day 1. I was too old to do med school so had to do the nursing hoop. Come hell or high water I was going to become my passion. I was able to get in with 1 year of experience and excelled in the program I was admitted. To all those who have this as a dream, go for it. Don't let these people discourage you. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. I'll give you the unvarnished truth. Cheers!
  2. 'Why are you guys making this more difficult than it has to be? Scaring the little kids off... Geez. Are you even a CRNA? I got in 8 years ago with 1 year of experience. It can be done. Just have to know how to play the game. An anesthesia tech of ours was in nursing school and got in last year with 1 year of experience. I wouldn’t waste my time doing anything but CRNA. You don’t have to work 2 years of med surg. It’s called knowing the right people to get an ICU job right after school, willing to relocate if possible. Apply to schools in Florida, you WILL get in somewhere.
  3. Don't take this advice. I have been a CRNA for 6 years in Michigan. I did not like CVICU nursing very much at all. Anesthesia is a lot better.
  4. Hello, I have been a CRNA for 6 years and am interested in getting more information about forming a group of independent CRNA's that contract ourselves out. I also hold an MBA from when I was younger and definitely have an interest in the business aspect of anesthesia. I have read of others on this board saying they are "netting" over $300k being a part of a practice. Can others chime in and attest to this? Obviously, its not all about the money but I would be interested what average compensation gross vs net for CRNA groups members are. FYI, I have never made under $200k before I started working and am trying to balance potentially starting my own group with some colleagues vs. signing another contract with a hospital. Best, Aaron
