UWorld is amazing and definitely helped me pass the NCLEX, I highly recommend it. Not only does it look similar (style wise) but i think the amount of SATA questions helped prepare me. I found Uworld to be more difficult. I scored "very high" chance of passing on my first test about 1 month into studying and doing 30% of the bank. I scored "borderline" on my second test after 2 months of studying , 50% through the bank and panicked so I was doing questions like mad with 3 weeks to go. I finished the whole bank with overall 60% correct. I spent the last week going over all the wrong ?s and marked ones. In addition, I supplemented my studies with Saunders for content review and target areas for questions. I browsed through the HESI Elsiver book. I went on Youtube to review more detailed content/patho. I highly recommend: Registered Nurse RN, Osmosis, and Khan Academy...in that order . i didn't use anything else or fork over hundreds of dollars for no reason. :) Also a must! someone posted an NCLEX guide on here that I reviewed a few days before the test too. It's very helpful! I passed in 75 questions.

just to update...i got the job! I start in Oct, but pending nclex. Super excited!!!!!!

Have an interview May 11 and I am nervous! Also im coming from out of state. Johns hopkins is my dream hospital! I hope I get this. honestly i never thought i would get an interview! Anybody know if we have to go through multiple rounds of interview? It would be pricey for me to keep flying back to Baltimore...

pharmD means doctorate of pharmacy but workin in the pharmacy sometimes people dont see you as a real doctor with a lot of training in medications. They dont respect you as much as a health care professional but customers do like pharmacists NPs same stigma but i believe they have more flexibility and versatility in their career. You can even open ur own practice. Pharmacists are being replaced by robots and asked to check way too many scripts than what is safe. Pay is excellent but so is being an NP about your strenghts in math/chem, it will get u thru the schooling but what about ur career after that?

No problem! I'm not sure how the hospital decides if you're nights or days but I think that is department-dependent. Also I should mention not all of UCMC is bad management, i heard good things about NICU and ICU (just not med-surg floors). I can't give you much advice on avoiding night shift, but I think med-surg floors have more openings so you may have more flexibility there. Surviving it, I take melatonin to regulate my sleep schedule better. Personally, I also stay up late often so for me night shift wasn't too bad of a change. Also I drink lots of Diet pepsi/coke even though I know it's bad for me.....

Firstly, it is awesome! Cincy has very friendly people, a great culture and many things to do. Public transportation is not always reliable however so going by car is the best option. Parking is no problem though! UCMC has a lot of openings I presume, but as a local Cincinnatian, i don't recommend working there for long. They have great nurses to teach you but bad management seems to be a common complaint. Christ is much better from what I hear. Good Sam is also an option close to campus. They are part of the TriHealth system and I have heard good things about TriHealth. Mercy Health system is ok too but I don't think they have locations close to downtown cincy. Mercy Anderson in particular is a good place. Have you considered Cincinnati Children's? That's probably the best place in the area. If you want to hop the border, St. Elizabeth's in Kentucky is also another option. Again, welcome!

I am currently in an accelerated nursing program and HIGHLY desire to move out of my home state to the New England/Mid-Atlantic area for an RN position. I know populated cities are probably over-saturated and I wont be hired without some experience but I would like to move closer to a big city so I get that experience, some further networking and eventually work in the city (Boston and NYC, specifically). I don't know anybody outside of my home state. Should I focus on networking or should I focus more on getting PCA experience? I do not have PCA experience but I do work in a pharmacy currently.

Hi! How were you able to be accepted to the program so early? I'm looking to apply but I am not finished with my prereqs yet and will apply once their portal opens again. Also I am worried about the competitiveness of the program. I have a 3.1 undergrad GPA (majored in a hard science) but I do have 2 years of volunteer experience, work experience as a pharm tech and I'm taking the GRE as well. Also my prereq GPA is a 4.0 so far.

Has anybody attended the information sessions in-person or online? If so, can anyone summarize average accepted GPAs of the students? Do they focus on the GRE scores?

Hi! I plan on going to Master Programs and eventually getting my NP/DNP or PhD in nursing. I will be graduating with a BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences, I also plan on attending an accelerated BSN program to obtain my BSN, then of course also obtain my RN licensure. Does anyone have advice on how crucial graduating with distinction or honors would be for my application to graduate school? Thanks!

So I double checked with my faculty instructor and it looks like we have to pick between ob/gyn and peds for clinicals only. We are getting lectured in both areas however for clinicals we have to pick one to do for an entire semester. Is this OK? I know at some schools they do 7 week ob/gyn then switch to 7 weeks of peds.

My school is not offering both ob/gyn and peds, so we have to chose one to take for next semester (I'm in an ADN program). I wanted to ask allnurses which one I should select...and which one I should take should I want to pass the NCLEX. This makes me really nervous if I can even pass the NCLEX if I'm not taking a needed class other nursing students take.

Go to a friends house maybe.? If you're that desperate for a quiet place...

Hi nurses! Have you ever been asked of this question and if so how did u respond? Or hypothetically how would you respond to this if asked?

Oh and I know pre-med curriculum overlaps with pre-pharm quite well but not nursing. Most pre-nursing only requires genchem, A&p and thats it. Ive seen a classmate try to do BSN+premed but it took her 5 yrs.

I switched over from pre-pharm to nursing. Im a junior in college. Im looking to pursue an associate then take the NCLEX then an online BSN program. I would suggest just getting involved with health care. Volunteer shadow talk talk network network. And tell people you are thinking about pre-med. I switched out of pharmacy coz i didnt like how pharmacies were off to the sidelines on healthcare.

I use the macbook pro because I'm old school and have a million CDs. I don't like downloading music so I buy the CDs and have a collection. Also for DVDs :) Like I said, I'm "old" school

Should i get an associates then go for an online bsn? Or apply for the reg BSN? My goal is to eventually go to a masters/doctoral program. What should i do? The rn to bsn online track is accredited and would save me a year. But in terms of getting my masters do nursing master programs care?
