So I just learned that Lich closed down- but does anyone know of any other programs besides Lich and PBISN that offer nursing programs? I know those programs offered associates, which I'm ok with, but also looking for programs that have bsns as well. I am applying to the carepoint health program in jersey, but I live in staten island and would like to see what other hospital affiliated programs are offered in the metro area.

Hello all! Anyway, like most of you I'm sure, I'm working on my pre req's and looking to apply to an accelerated nursing program this year. I would really like to go to Wagner, but here's my situation: I have a very good science gpa, whether you look at my undergraduate science gpa alone or in conjunction with the additional science classes I took after graduation, but my overall degree gpa isn't as good. I had a myriad of health problems after taking a class in the middle east, and unfortunately it was difficult to diagnose and since this happened two years into college I really didn't have the time to bring my gpa back up that much, especially just starting to take my science classes. I went from being a 3.6 student, to a 2.9, and hopefully with me retaking two of my undergrad classes it'll be brought up a little bit more. However, the last three semesters ( while taking prereqs)I have had over a 3.0, so I'm hoping the steady increase and good science gpa will help me explain what happened the last two years of school.I have a b in biostats, an a- in anatomy 1, and a b+ in anatomy 2 (took both in summer session- very difficult,) a in developmental psych, etc... I'm also in the process of taking micro and nutrition, however grades are not available yet. I just wanted to know if anyone else in my position had any luck getting into any programs in the NY/NJ area. I live in Staten Island, and willing to commute an hr, but I really am not in a position to leave (familial health issues) and looking for guidance regarding admissions in the tristate area. I came across a few helpful posts, but being new to this site, I'm not really sure where this post belongs so any help would be much appreciated. Some of the helpful posts included: a list of schools that accept students with lower gpa's, sadly none of which are near me, and helpful suggestions when applying for programs that came from a woman who has been reviewing apps for the last 20 years. Regarding the latter, the post made me feel like my goals were actually attainable, and I just want so desperately to do everything I can to maximize my chances of getting accepted into an ABSN program. I'm also wondering if anyone has any current experience with reaching out to admissions regarding this issue/ knows any schools in the tri state area that actually do accept student with less than a 3.0/anything else you wish to say. I'm all ears. Thank you everyone.

Do you know of any hybrid programs that are accepted in NY? I figured this would be a problem, however when I tried contacting the NYS office of professions to find out more information about accredited programs, I couldn't reach anyone directly. Perhaps it has something to do with all of these storms and being located in Albany lol. Here's hoping I get into Wagner's ABSN

Hello there, I just saw your message NYCRN- did you manage to get a job with your degree? I have numerous friends that have graduated and still can not find employment. I'm wondering if I should consider online BSN programs and just find a job with my degree as 60,000 is a lot of money. I went to wagner for undergrad, so perhaps maybe that would help me in terms of getting in to the ABSN program, but I'm still weary of having so few options.

Hello all, For financial reasons, I'm trying to find reputable online BSN programs with CCNE accreditation, that will enable me to work in NY/NYC. I'm also interested in schools that offer online BSN programs, but are established colleges like villanova or northeastern to name a few. I am applying to Wagner Colleges accelerated nursing program, but its $60,000, and I would like to look into other options in case I do not get in. I would prefer to work and do a nursing program, however with Wagner's program it is not recommended, and I have lots of student loans. If anyone has gone through a situation and has completed a BSN program online and was able to gain employment in a NY hospital your input would be greatly appreciated. However, anyone that has any tips regarding my query, I would love to hear what you have to say. My main concern with online programs is whether or not they will eventually enable me to work in a hospital in Staten Island or Manhattan. I have multiple friends that have BSN's and can't find jobs because they don't have hospital experience, but yet they had to do clinicals in order to graduate and take their NCLEX, so I have my reservations about whether or not an online program will be suitable for me given my location. hey just saw your post- wondering what schools you got into, as my gpa is also a 2.9. I want to apply to wagner college in staten island ny, and other schools within the ny/nj area, but not sure which schools will actually consider me with this gpa. Also I have excellent grades on my prereqs.
