  1. Hi! I've been an RN for three years, starting out with an Associates degree, completing my BSN last year through Chamberlain, and now looking into going forward for a MSN. I did a lot of research on WGU's MSN program and drilled friends who've graduated from the program. All the information I found was positive and it sounded like the program was based on papers and not proctors exams. However, I'm hearing entirely different things about WGU's updated MSN curriculum. It seems like few have good opinions about the new program and it has changed to have many courses where proctor end exams are required. Can anyone give me more information on what the new curriculum is like, how it works and what to expect? How many courses require proctors exams and what are they like? How many papers are now required? How many hours are you having to dedicate to courses each week? Will there still be time for non educational/work things if one is working full time and taking courses? I've been accepted but I'm very hesitant to start with all the negative things I'm hearing about updated program with completely altered curriculum.
  2. I was planning on going to WGU for a MSN in leadership and management and thought it would be a good fit. Since I have test anxiety I was looking forward to a program where the vast majority of the classes only required papers (several friends who have graduated from WGU with MSNs provided me with this information). However, it appears that with the recent curriculum changes the program has vastly changed and over half of the courses now require proctored exams! Has anyone started their MSN at WGU since the curriculum changes and can they share what it is like? Thanks!
  3. Hello! I've been an RN for about a year and a half now, the first 8-9 months I spent working in a long term care unit and have been in a critical access hospital ACU for just under a year. During nursing school I loved peds/nicu and spent my "residency" (3 wks) there. I've taken PALS, STABLE, extra classes in peds and NICU just to round out my resume but after 1.5 years of trying I'm getting no where! Long term care was absolutely the worst experience of my life and I'm already bored in ACU. Does anyone have any tips when it comes to getting an RN position in a specialty area such as peds, PICU, or NICU? I'll finish my BSN in June 2014 so I'm hoping that will help but any advice would be great.
