  1. If a patient has a Shiley 6 fenestrated inner cannula, what size suctioning catheter would be the safest to suction the patient with? Would a 10Fr catheter be the appropriate suctioning catheter? I remember learning that the suctioning catheter cannot be 2x greater than the diameter of the inner cannula.
  2. I'm new to this process and I need a bit of input on whether this sounds good or what changes I can implement to make it sound better? Dear Professor XYZ, I'm sending you an email as I passed the NCLEX on 10/1/2015 and I'm starting to apply for jobs at ABC hospital, DEF hospital, and GHI hospital. Would you kindly be willing to write me a strong letter of recommendation and be one of my references for my job applications? I had my Nursing foundation clinical with you at ABC hospital last fall semester and I enjoyed my clinical rotation working on the geriatric floor under your supervision. It strengthened my confidence and critical thinking skills, expanded my foundation of nursing knowledge and skills, and taught me the importance of prioritization, organization, and excellent time management. Aside from that, it made me realize that I want to work with the geriatric population. Because of my clinical rotation with you, I know you would be able to speak of my hard work, knowledge and skills, my commitment to continue learning, and my dedication to providing quality care. I will be more than happy to provide you with any materials needed to write the letter. I hope all is well and thank you in advance for considering my request. Sincerely, Michelle XYZ
  3. Thank you so much :) Such a great help!
  4. I'm a new RN in NJ, but I may be moving to NY due to family issues. I'm trying to apply for reciprocity in NY, but I'm not exactly sure what steps need to be taken. Anyone know how it works and how long it would take? Do I have to go back to school and get my transcripts sent over to the BON for NY and re-do my fingerprinting? Any info would be appreciated.
  5. I'm a new grad and I'm starting to apply to jobs, but I'm new to this process and I was just wondering when would it be appropriate to start asking professors for recommendation letters? Should I ask before I actually apply? After I apply to a position? Before I have an interview? Any info. would greatly be appreciated.
  6. How do you determine safe dose ranges for cefotaxime 270 mg via IV piggyback. Sterile water for injection 5.4 mL concentration = 50 mg/mL, Q8H? Infant weights 5kg and is 30 days old. I found different safe dose ranges, but I'm not sure which one to use.
