Ok I give up
Thanks for the reply peeps. I have my ADN and yes I have my RN License through the state of california. I'm open to relocating if the pay is reasonable. However, as a new grad I'm sure that will get me nowhere. I will look into North Dakota and see where that takes me.

Ok I give up
I'm at my breaking point. Really wondering if I should even be pursuing being an RN anymore. I have applied to HUNDREDS of jobs. I lost count! Only three have called back which led to one interview, then nothing. This is so frustrating. It really pisses me off when I hear that there is a nursing shortage, because there is NONE. There are tons of able bodied new grads who are out there ready to work but we can't get jobs because we have no experience. Why did I just go through two years of hell for someone to tell me you aren't qualified. Such BULL!! Ugh. Is anyone else dealing with this? I'm really considering pursuing a different career choice.

NCLEX 2015 California Results
UPDATE!! So I called the BRN this morning and I got the whole explanation that it could take 4-6 weeks, yada yada. Anyways, I checked this morning about an hour after I called them and low and behold I have my license now!!! Yahoo!! So it took about 2 weeks after I took NCLEX to get my results. So excited. If I can say anything to anyone waiting to hear from the CA BRN, just relax there is no rhyme or reason with their process of going through applicants, they go person by person. I had classmates who took the exam AFTER me and got their results in 4 days (way before me)! Anyways, thanks for the comments you guys, I appreciate the support! Now off to the crazy world of nursing! :)

NCLEX 2015 California Results
Ok so I took NCLEX-RN on Jan. 10th. It shut off at 135 for me. I walked out feeling like I completely bombed the exam. I did the PVT 24 hours later and it wouldn't take my credit card payment! I was so stoked! Now here I am almost a week and a half later and no word from the CA BRN. Anyone else still waiting for their results? I have heard they usually release your results in around 4-5 days and I know that it could take 2-4 weeks to hear anything. Just wondering if anyone else has been waiting longer? Anyone?

Riverside Community College fall 2014
I think they might have changed books since I started, for us our nursing bible that semester was the Taylor fundamentals of nursing book, and for the skills lab portion it was the Taylor's clinical nursing skills book. You will read those books inside and out the first semester. The other books you will maybe read a chapter or two but you will find they just all reiterate what you read in the Taylor books....lol. That was frustrating, I was ****** cuz I spent so much money on those books and I barely used them, however you will use them In subsequent semesters so make sure you get them all. The cherry book is your bible for nursing leadership and management. Any other questions just fire away...lol

The instructors in the program expect that you read each chapter that they assign on each KSA, however, does that mean you have to, not necessarily, they go over the content they want you to know in seminar and most of the time you can get a good understanding from their seminars, so you are right that they are a reference. When I was preparing for the first semester, I could not get all the reading done, so I just skimmed over what I couldn't get to. It is all up to how you learn guys, this program will definitely test your reading and retaining of information skills...lol. Also for the skills labs it is wise that you do read before hand because you want to have a good knowledge base before you practice those skills in the lab that week. I know it seems like its a lot but it goes by fast, I'm in the final semester this fall and I can't believe how fast it went by. Some words of advice, get yourself organized, and complete things early. That way you get to class prepared and ready to learn :) good luck peeps! And congratulations!!

mp86, yes I'm currently in the second year of the program n21, I really enjoy the program, there are so many resources for us to utilize, the instructors are for the most part are very good instructors. They are always available to help/answer questions, with every school there are instructors who are just flat out horrible but that is very uncommon in the RN program at RCC. As far as the bridge program I'm not completely sure about it, the best people to talk about it are --------- or ------------, they will point you in the right direction. I heard that you can start the bridge program while in the RCC nursing program however it is not at the same time while you are in a nursing course. Several of my friends took a summer class at RCC that is an intro to the bridge program ( I think ), it was quite expensive and i could not afford it at the time. The bridge program is there for students to enter right after they finish the RCC program as long as they have all their pre-requisets met. Overall its an excellent program, I highly recommend you do what you can to get in, its a very distinguished program, we are very well known when we walk on our clinical units (nurses are very excited to see us :) ). I wish you and everyone on this thread the best of luck, DON'T give up, you will get in! I got in on my second try! Good luck!

They take a maximum of 80 students per semester. They also have an alternate list of students that they pick from when students who are already in drop out/fail to meet the immunization requirements.

Don't worry if you guys don't get the reading done before class starts, a lot of the reading is repetitive from book to book, I tried to get all the reading done but I couldn't, most important thing is to make sure that you have your passports for entry done before you have seminar. The passports for entry are listed on the KSA's for that respective week. I know it's a lot guys but you can do it, pace yourselves. The instructors are really good about getting you all the content they will be testing you on in their seminars. Good luck :) you got this!

Don't feel overwhelmed by the Immunization list, just dive right in guys, the sooner you get it done the better, you will be so glad you did! I don't know the exact dates that you have to have everything completed by (it was a different date for us), but DO NOT procrastinate. They will not let you attend clinicals until you have them complete. If you can get an appointment sooner with your Dr. do it! Also, remember that we have student health services resource at RCC that offers low price immunizations, physicals, etc. for students!
