  1. I'm not sure how exactly they decide, but I do know that you basically have no say until your very last clinical experience. They try to place you within 45 minutes of your home, but that doesn't always work out either. Ultimately, they try to decide who's a good match for whatever site- how, i'm not sure. Also, wanted to add, persistence in this crazy time is a MUST. To any one not accepted, call, keep calling, leave voice mails. There is a girl in our program now who did not get accepted last year. She kept calling because she wanted to know how to be a stronger applicant for the following year. She said they never answered her calls or returned her phone calls. One day, randomly, she got a phone called from the head of our program saying "a spot just opened and it seems that you really want to be here".
  2. Congrats to all those accepted! Sorry i was away for a while.. things got crazy at QU! For any of you that weren't accepted.. i just want to say... definitely reapply next year. There are people in our program now who didn't get accepted last year. @Kra820, they expect us to maintain a 3.0 gpa. However, we did have some students that did not meet that expectation fall semester, one in particular got a 2.9. They did not kick anyone out of the program, they actually set up a plan to get him on track.. through extra help, tutoring ect. However, you cannot graduate without a 3.0 gpa. If you get too low below a 3.0, lets say 2.6 or 2.7, they may advise you to withdraw, but they dont kick anyone out :))
  3. I really really like this program. It is very challenging, but the Professors do everything they can to see to your success. If you live in the area, I would suggest coming to one of the open house sessions, I believe one is coming up in March. They were able to give me a full tour of the Nursing department and state of the art labs/simulation technology. In this cohort, everyone is a family which really helps when trying to study. I would highly suggest not working. There is a marked difference in my gpa and my counterparts who work. Hmm.. what else. The program is very, very expensive. About 62,000 in total. The good news is, mostly all students get an institutional grant of 25 grand. So, remember to fill out your FAFSA. Prepare to spend a good amount of extra money on books, scrubs, lab coats/equipment, and commuting. A friend of mine has to drive 1 hour and 15 mins to her clinical site.. and thats one way.
  4. That's a great question that I cannot answer unfortunately. I gave my answer right away. I know of people who said they would attend and ended up not attending later.
  5. I wondered the exact same thing lol. It was just a regular sized envelope :) We are all over southern Connecticut as far up as Hartford. So, St. Francis, St. Mary's, Bristol, Midstate, middlesex, Yale. The list goes on but I can't think of all of them.
  6. surprisingly we did not.
  7. I am currently in the program. First degree in early childhood education, 3.5 gpa. 3.8 prerequisite gpa. I love the program. They accepted 45 this year, 2 did not stay because of financial reasons. I believe roughly 250 people apply per year. I can say the stats of the class are across the board, some 3.1 gpa, others 3.9. I think what most people have in common is some sort of medical experience prior to coming, EMT's, CNA's, or volunteer experience in a health care setting.
  8. My name is Christine. I'm also a Quinnipiac hopeful. I have been accepted into Stony Brook's ABSN for the upcoming cohort but Quinnipiac is my first choice. (My fiance lives near this school). Much more pressure when a wedding rest upon an admission decision :/ "May the odds ever be in our favor" :)
  9. What's the start date for the 2014/2015 cohort?
  10. Yeah thats me!! Congratulations! I remember feeling like everyone in our interview deserved to be admitd. I'm trying to put a face to your name. Can u tell me something u said in the interview? Ill definately remember by that :))
  11. Hi my name is Christine. I have been following this board since it first opened. I feel like i know a lot of you already :) I was informed yesterday evening that i was accepted into the program. I'm very excited and can't wait to meet you guys!
