I don't know if anybody quit but you do stay in a hotel in San Diego for a short while to do clinicals at the Balboa Naval Hospital. The cost of the Hotel is covered in tuition I believe.

Slobgob is right. Your gonna hate it. But that's nothing new to KPSNA students. I personally know someone who drove 1.75 hrs from West of Pasadena to get to class and she still graduated. As for working. I heard the instructors discuss that the first day. I have heard it is highly discouraged and I know people who said they were going to work, then were only able to work perdiem once or twice a month. If your moving from out of area it doesn't even seem worth the job hunt.

Just do it! I find it interesting you are taking issue with being a nurse considering your plan to enter into a male dominated profession. I am entering into the CRNA program in September '05. Over 60% of CRNA's are male! Hot Damn! Might explain why the incomes and benefits are a bit better than most nurse jobs. Reading some of the other responses gets the mind working. You WILL run into M.D.s who think they are boss and get away with it often with the ladies. Most men don't stand for it and that is why, as mentioned in previous responses that, the Dr.s are pretty cool. I have been in the ICU and ER settings for 10 years and believe it or not I got a job in a local ER where the M.D.s were very difficult to work "with" and that is no doubt what caused me to begin to hate going to work everyday. Thank the Lord for that experience because it motivated me to go get my BSN so that I could apply to CRNA. I only wish I had not waited so long to acquire the BSN but the work was so rewarding that I figured I didn't need another BS to feel worthy of the job. It is very gratifying when you do something well by your patient and they take the time to express their gratitude. Go for it and don't look back, you won't regret it.
