Washington Hospital Center New Grad February 2014
I interviewed with someone from HR first and got pretty basic questions such as why do you want to work here and a couple behavioral questions about conflict with co-workers or patients. My unit interview consisted of several clinical questions. I was terrified and not sure if I was doing very well, but I got the job! My biggest advice would be RELAX! Easier said than done, I know. Everyone there was SO nice and friendly which helped calm my nerves a little. I'm really excited to start next month! Good luck to those interviewing on Tuesday!

I went to the interview on Friday. First I interviewed with HR which wasn't bad. I felt I did really well. After that I interviewed with a nurse from the emergency dept. I fumbled a lot on that part, so I'm not sure what they thought of me. I was so nervous! I have yet to hear back. I'll keep you all posted!

Thank you! I will let you all know how it goes. Keep your hopes up, I have a friend who hasn't been contacted for an interview yet but received the email asking for her gpa, specialty interests, etc. Another classmate received an invitation to interview Friday, but the recruiter offered to include her in a different interview date in the next few weeks that works better for her schedule. So keep stalking your email! It seems like they are just getting started on the interviews.

Where to apply for nursing license?
I am finding/hearing conflicting information about where I can apply for my initial nursing license. I'm graduating next week and am very interested in a job opportunity in Washington, DC. I currently live in Virginia and will continue to live here while working in DC. To make matters more complicated, I am a military spouse and my husband and I maintain our current "home of record" in the state of Wisconsin. I'm not sure if that matters or not. I was always under the impression I could apply for a license anywhere I wanted to, but an instructor sent an email out to my graduating class saying you must obtain a license in the state where you live first and then have that license endorsed if you want to work in another state. I just want to get a DC license, is this possible? Can anyone shed some light? If it makes a difference, I know Virginia is compact, DC is not.

I received an email yesterday inviting me to an interview event this Friday from 10am-4pm! It said they would like you to be available during those times, but I have my last exam that morning (grrrr lol). Anyways they were still able to set me up for a time in the afternoon! I'm so excited but so nervous!!!! The recruiter said in the email that I would be interviewing with HR and the nurse unit director, though the unit was not specified so I'm not sure what unit I'll be interviewing for. I really hope it's one of my preferred choices, but I would be really excited to work at WHC no matter what!
