  1. I think there is nothing wrong with shedding a few tears with our patients. It shows we are human, and that we care. Last July my 6 month old grandson died in the hospital that I am currently doing my RN clinical in. After a while of unsuccessful resuscitation, one of the nurses took my son and I into my grandson's room so we could say our goodbyes. The nurse was very professional and caring, but but I noticed that she had tears running down her face. I have seen her a couple of times while I've been at the hospital and although I'm sure she doesn't remember me, I remember her! I hope I always have the compassion to show a patient and/or their family that I am genuinely sorry for their loss.
