  1. Yes, he thinks it will give me a green card but processing time can be up to 3 years. Yes, I realize our education is very different, I'm not sure if I should be poor for a few years and go to school there to get my RN. Or stick with Athabasca University and keep travelling back and fourth for the next 2 years... I'm not sure how my LPN would transfer over to be credited in a bridging program.
  2. Hello, I'm in the same situation, I was wondering how you made out with this? My boyfriend is graduating from mechanical engineering in Alabama and I'm an LPN (new grad) in cold lake.. I realize I can't work as an LPN there but I was looking at bridging. I'm trying to get enough hours to bridge into the Athabasca program right now and working on prerequisites till then. Can you give me any advice???

Okay so I need major help.... My canadian boyfriend and I have been together for 5 years and he's on scholarship for hockey in Huntsville Alabama. He graduates from mechanical engineering in July 2016. I graduated from the LPN program spring of 2014 and currently work in Cold Lake, Alberta to nurse rural and get my student loans paid off. I work Acute, Obstetrics, and ER. I am taking pre-requisites right now to apply for the bridging program of Athabasca University. As a new grad I only have 800 hours, and I need 1700 to apply. (working on it) My boyfriend is getting job/ internship opportunities down in Huntsville and I really want to move down there eventually (the next year or so) . I have read numerous threads that LPNs cannot work in the states due to the lack of visas for the profession... all negative things really. does anyone know of someone who was SUCCESSFUL!?? OR does anyone know if it's worth bridging to the RN program down there and getting a student visa??? ANY IDEAS ARE WELCOME TO HELP ME THROUGH THIS, I AM SO STUCK !! THANK YOU :) :)
  4. American LPN's can come into Canada and work so Canadian LPN's must be able to work there on a visa. There has to be one that we qualify under,
  5. I am an LPN in Canada and my boyfriend (who lives in canada) goes to UAH. I am wanting to make my way down there as he has a few more years left in his degree. Primarily, I love Alabama, and would love to have this experience added to my nursing career. I am wondering which visa I am covered by when applying. Does anyone have any successful stories or information on this??! The process seems to be scattered....
