  1. Thank you all for the responses. From what I gathered, I can basically expect to be at the school 4 to 5 days out of the week, as well as possible weekend events. This answers my question on how far is "too far" to drive on a daily basis for going to school. I would want to move out closer to the schools that I am looking to get into. It sounds like some of you have some crazy schedules! Would you say nursing school is harder in comparison to the pre reqs?
  2. Thank you for all of your help everyone! I really appreciate the comments. From what everyone is saying, I can expect to be spending most of the week at the school, whether I am in lecture, lab, meetings, or at a clinical off campus. This answers my question of how far is "too far" to make the drive on a daily basis.
  3. Thank you for your responses.I really appreciate it. The only reason I ask this is because I live in Southern California, and as I look at different nursing schools, I am trying to figure out what distance is "too far" to commute to for nursing school. I have about 3 to 4 classes left until I am able to apply for nursing schools so I am trying to gauge whether I will have to drive to school everyday or maybe just 3 times a week or whatever the case may be. Are you both going for BSN degrees?
  4. I have looked and I can't find anything on this question? Are lectures/labs two times a week or Monday through Friday? I know each school is different but what has your experience been?
  5. I am about 4 pre reqs away from being able to apply for a BSN program and I was wondering if nursing school is Monday through Friday or just two days a week plus clinicals? I am asking because I live about an hour away from about 4 accredited schools here in California, but if I have to drive that everyday, I would just move down there. If I had to do that two times a week, it wouldn't be so bad. I know every school is different, but what has your experiences been with if you had classes daily or just two times a week?
  6. I am about to graduate from a community college here in California with an associate degree in Psychology. My question is, should I apply to nursing school to get my ADN or pass all that and try to get in the more competitive school for BSN? I would need to take a few more science classes to qualify for the pre reqs for both those degrees but I have every thing else... What do you all think? I am 22 years old. I understand it all boils down to me and what I want, I just want some experienced opinions out there.. Thanks!

  8. I am looking into becoming a LVN. I don't know if I want to spend that kind of money as I have not 100% committed to the idea but as I research all of these schools, none of them are accredited by the NLNAC? I am from California, and all the schools here are only accredited by the state of California? Is that the same thing? I have read that accreditation is a must have but if I don't have access to a school with accreditation, then what do I do? I also might become a CNA first to help get some experience and save some money for nursing school if I end up pursuing nursing.
