Any Nurses Who Have Had Mono?
I had mono May of 2013. It was terrible. Luckily I had just finished school and was out for the summer. I was in the hospital for 4 days. The hospital staff said that I had the worst case of mono they had seen in years. The best treatment is to make sure you get enough rest. It's going to take some time for your body to fully recover and your immune system to build back up. Drink plenty of fluid as well. My doctor suggested Gatorade because it has a ton of electrolytes. Also you may want to take some daily vitamins. My doctor also recommended me take an Iron tablet. If you have any questions let me know! Hope this helped! Meghan

Tips On Answering Psychiatric Questions
Lev Thanks for your reply! Actually I have not taken my test yet. It got rescheduled due to weather, which I am happy about because it gives me more time to study. Thanks for your tips! I have however not taken Pharmacology. I am in my second semester of nursing school and I have only completed Fundamentals. Do you have any websites that can help me with studying the psych. drugs? Any information would be helpful (YouTube Videos, Quizzes, Websites). Thanks, Meghan Archer

What was/are the 3 things that got/get you through nursing school?
First and foremost I don't know where I would be without my MOM. She currently just graduated from RN school after being a LPN for 18 years. She is my role model and never fails to help me if I need it and is always encouraging me to do my best. Secondly, I I didn't have the INTERNET I don't know where I would be. If you don't understand something in class Google it or find a video on YouTube explaining it in much simpler terms. Lastly, my ADD medication. I would never get a single thing done if I didn't have it!

Tips On Answering Psychiatric Questions
Tomorrow I have my first test in Psych/Mental Health Nursing and I will admit I am a bit nervous. Everyone says that Psych. questions is difficult to answer and is very different than answering any other nursing class question for example, Med. Surg. Does anyone have any tips on how to approach these style questions and how to go about answering these. The chapters that are on my test tomorrow include Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders, Mental Health and Mental Illness, Legal and Ethical Guidelines, Settings/Culture, Nursing Process, and Psychotropic Drugs. I, along with my classmates, have no idea what to expect on our first test tomorrow. We have only had a lecture on one chapter. The rest of the information was up to us to learn. Can someone please offer some advice about Psych. and how to answer these types of questions. Any help is much appreciated! Much love, Meghan Beth :)

Overthinking on tests! HELP!
Yes. We took a practice HESI exam this week and I once again I over analyzed the questions. For example, one of the questions asked was about a nursing assistant bathing a patient. It stated that the nursing assistant had the basin of water on the patients bed and the patients foot soaking in the basin on the bed. The question asked what would you tell the nursing assistant to do as a nurse. Two of the answers that I recall were 1) tell the nursing assistant to remove the basin of water from the patients bed or 2) tell the nursing assistant to make sure they dry between the patients toes in order to prevent the patients toes. I chose the first answer because the basin of water is not suppose to be placed on the patients bed while giving the patient a bath however the second answer is the correct answer due to the fact that if the nursing assistant does not wipe between the patients toes it can cause skin integrity. I realize that now after the test is over but while taking the test I never thought to think about that. HELP!

Overthinking on tests! HELP!
Hey everyone! I need some help please! I am in my freshmen year of nursing school and every test I have taken so far I seem to over analyze the question and miss them however when I go back to review my test, I realize I know the answer and I feel dumb for getting it wrong. I guess you could say I read to much into the question and don't know how to stop. My teachers and everyone have told me that I do this. I don't want to get in a habit of doing this. Is there anyone who can relate or give advice? I would appreciate it! :)
