They are Nationally Accredited. The credits will not transfer to other colleges especially Regionally accredited. They did accept all of my transfer Gen. Ed classes. Will not accept any Nursing transfer credits though. They do not have NLN accreditation even though the guy told me they did. I transferred out of this school. Read my post on this site about the college. HORRIBLE experience. Hospitals do not look favorably at Fortis grads. Fortis has a horrible reputation in this area. Try other schools first.

Up until 2 months ago I was a nursing student at Fortis. I have a Bachelor's degree from a state college and maintained a 4.0 GPA from that school. While at Fortis I maintained a 3.8 GPA but struggled to do so. The reason for the struggle was because the instructors teach one thing and test on something completely different. When discussing this with the dean, she said that she supports her instructors 100% and I need to learn better study skills. If I did not have a 4.0 from a REAL school I might have given some thought to her ridiculous accusation. After speaking with several students that were getting ready to graduate, I found out that this school's practices are completely unethical. Students were getting to the end of the nursing program and if ---- did not believe they would pass the NCLEX exam she would make sure their grades where changed so that they failed the program. This way they would not risk lowering the schools pass rates which are needed to get the League of Nursing accreditation which by the way, I was told by the admission person they already had. He assured me they had all the accreditations needed to get a job in any hospital. Also another lie because after investigating further, Fortis College has a very bad reputation in the area and Fortis graduates are not hired. All of this was verified by a former instructor who left the school because she would not participate in these unethical practices. You are probably wondering why I didn't go back to a state school and the bottom line is the waiting lists are so long I decided to try a for profit school because there was no waiting list and no pre-req's required. Now I know why there was no waiting list. One of my classes started with 12 students and by the end of class 8 had dropped out or been failed and forced to drop. For profit schools are just that. The only thing that matters is their $$. What kind of school takes 48,000 for an Associate degree in nursing and lets a student get all the way to the end of their program and fails them so that their education becomes worthless at this point because your credits will not transfer to another reputable/regionally accredited school. They will tell you they will but they will not. None of mine transferred. I have since transferred to Galen and I am so happy I did. If this review helps just one person avoid this school it is worth my time to write it. Please avoid this school. Talk to some of the current students and see what they say about the school.
