  1. I just got accepted into for their nursing program starting Spring 2014. I am a current college student with my A.A. degree so I'm in the process of transferring. Now I haven't experienced the actual program yet, but it is to my understanding that the school is highly recognized for it's nursing program. In 2011, 100% of their nursing students passed the NCLEX. The faculty to student ratio is much smaller than that of a university so you get the one-on-one experience which makes it all the more rewarding. The only downfall... it's a private university so the cost of attendance is a lot higher. Grades are EXTREMELY important, not to be simply accepted, but also to get scholarships based on your grades alone. You say you received the presidential scholarship so it sounds like you have your grades in tact. Keep it that way. Because it's a private university which means higher cost, you'll automatically get some type of grants. Also, join the Honor Society (Phi Theta Kappa) because you automatically get a scholarship because of it. There are nursing scholarships available as well once you're accepted which will also help out. Now I know you're in high school, but it wouldn't hurt to become CNA certified (just so you can have a side job with experience, it's what I did). I'm not sure about the requirements for freshman since I'm a transfer, but just to let you know what kind of stats I have so you can compare... I made an 87.3% on the TEAS V Exam. I have a 3.84 GPA. I am a Certified Nursing Assistant. I'm in the Honor Society. I also got a recommendation letter from my Microbiology instructor (buddy up to your teachers!). Hope all this helps. I'm looking forward to being a Spartan Nurse! Something I've been working towards for quite some time :)
  2. I just got accepted today to the nursing program at UT as well! They actually called to inform me that I had been accepted and should be receiving my documents in the mail soon. So excited to start the program. I've heard nothing but wonderful things!!!
