  1. I think the deadline is April 10, so there will probably be another round of acceptances later this month.
  2. I would assume that all financial aid would be in the letter on ACES. As part of the "to-do list" you are encouraged to talk to your financial aid counselor, so I would recommend doing that. My counselor was helpful and was able to answer many of my questions.
  3. Totally off-topic, but what is your daily schedule like, healersart? Is it consistent from day to day? I have kids who are involved with dance and sports and am wondering if they'll be able to participate in these activities while I'm in school.
  4. I am going to Duke because I didn't get into UNC's BSN program, which was geared for undergrads. I live in the Raleigh area, so the only schools here who have nursing programs are Duke, UNC, and NC Central. NC Central doesn't have a great reputation. Duke Health System is top notch, and I believe they recruit from DUSON. I think they said at Duke Days that 98% of their grads are employed(?) With the new facilities and quality of education, you can't go wrong with Duke. I am planning on earning a Master's as well, and the ABSN program prepares their students for higher degrees.
  5. Almondhoneybee, I can't figure out to send a PM. They both independently lived at the Evergreens at Mt Moriah. Durham NC Apartments at Evergreens NC: Durham Apartment Rental, Raleigh NC Apartment, Chapel Hill NC Apartment, Raleigh Durham Apartment There aren't many (nice) apartments in Chapel Hill. Most are dirty and old. This area of Mt Moriah is off route 15-501 and is right between Durham and Chapel Hill. It is a nice and up-and-coming area with lots of new restaurants and businesses. There are several other apartment complexes in this area besides Evergreens.
  6. almondhoneybee, there are a lot of good apartments on the stretch of 15-501 between Durham and Chapel Hill. I can recommend a few apartment complexes if you need specifics. Both my sister and sister-in-law lived in that area, and both were students at UNC and at Duke.
  7. I was straight-up rejected But, I got in at Duke!! Best wishes to all of you!
  8. I got in!! See y'all in the Fall!!! :)
  9. Nope. I bet we hear this coming week. Traditionally, the undergrads are notified first and then the others. It was unusual for second degree students to hear this early.
  10. I am so nervous and excited for the 12th to get here! The more I reflect on my Duke Day, the more I realize how excited I am to become a nurse and how "at home" I felt at Duke. Sending everyone well wishes and luck for good news next week!
  11. Sounds like we are very similar. I am also a second degree student. I am a full time teacher and a mother of 3 (ages 7, 4, and 1). I've been taking the prereqs over the past few years. The only thing I am nervous about is my volunteering component. With my job, classes, and commitment to my kids, I simply do not have time to volunteer in a health setting. The volunteer hours that I do are at my school. I hope that UNC views my teaching and volunteering at school as community service.
  12. Congrats, malibu12! What's your story? Are you a current UNC student or 2nd degree student?
  13. Wow, there really aren't many people contributing to this thread. Definitely not as many as other years. I'm hoping this goes in our favor...
  14. I went on Friday too. It was a great day and I enjoyed all of the activities. Duke definitely went all out to make our experience a good one.
  15. Yes, I'm a second degree student as well. Very nervous about that factor based on what I've read. But, I'm hoping that I bring experience and other dimensions that will help me be an asset. I've also applied to Duke and have an interview there in 2 weeks. I have a pretty good shot at getting into Duke, but my first choice is UNC. I wish these next few weeks would go by quickly!
