I hope you mean 3 aides for 98 patients. I have 22 (44 on my unit with only 2 aides) and I'm overwhelmed. 98....it would take at least an hour and a half to change them all at once and thts if it only takes one min to change them!

Sounds to me the speech pathologist was doing his/her job. I know being under investigation sucks but tell the truth about what happened ( if it were true or not). I wish you the best of luck.

I think you were both stressed. 3 admits is alot for a nurse because the admission takes hours to complete...and she had 3! I know you were busy. If I had been you I just would have said "sure" and got it when I found enough time, (and quickly as I could, no doddeling around) and got the vs. Then when I reported to the nurse I would apologize for the delay. Mind you though, it might have only been 10 min after she asked me to get the vs. You are only one person, so just do your best. I don't think she was rude, I just think you were both under alot of stress.

The good thing about being a cna is this: they are always needing someone to pick up shifts. So you can pick up an extra shift if you need more money. As for they pay, I make decent, 13.30 an hour, however I have been an aide at the same ltc for 5 years. You may not get rich but you can live. I personally am not on any kind of assistance and pay all my bills on time and I live in a nice house at the edge of town. My vehicle is paid off, so my husband and I are comfortable. We are not rich, but I'm not financially stressed. What helps is my husband works full time and we don't have kids either.

In my opinion, considering that you are new, your coworkers should expect you to make mistakes. Also, the nurse should be professional enough to recognize the mistakes you are making and coach you on how to remedy your mistakes. You are new, it's the nurses floor and she needs to make sure her staff knows what to to and how to do it; and if they dont, she needs to educate them, not scold them. That her her job as your superior. It sounds to me it is the nurse who is not doing her job not you. If you have more issues try taking the nurse aside and asking her to give you constructive criticism, not scold you. If she can't do that then go to your DON.

When I have a bariatric pt who uses the bed pan, I try to make sure they spread their legs apart so their thighs are not touching. Then if I need to I will take a towel and place between their legs to catch their urine. That usually stops me from a full bed. Just curious, dies the pt have a Bariatric bed pan?
