North Central Fla, nursing jobs.
I'm looking to move to Orlando. I fell in love when I went recently. When I was there I saw many ads for apartments that I researched that were pretty cheap and plus there is so much to do. I haven't graduated nursing school but I'm debating do I want to go there right after graduating or work in my state first. I live in Maryland. The cost of living does have its pros and cons in Florida. Housing can be on the lower end compared to where I am now. $1100 here gets you a 3 bedroom townhouse or apartment for rent, but there in the neighborhood where our rental was, you get a 3 bedroom house with a pool. Gas was cheaper there than here when we visited (March 2014) but food was veryyyy expensive.

Thanks for the info! This isn't a side I have heard so thanks for the info. I was wondering is this the same for their nursing homes?

Omg that's great congrats! Your story definitely gives a of confidence in moving to Florida. Do you have your BSN? I have been noticing a trend that more nurses with BSN's have found jobs a lot quicker.

Would you recommend that I get some type of health experience like an internship or working as a CNA, to make finding a job easier?

I will be graduating with my BSN and really want to move to Florida (preferably the Orlando or West Palm beach area). I have done tons of research and I am wondering would it be best for me to secure a job and move down, or stay in my home state for a year or two after I graduate to get experince and save money? I have heard many things about the job market and people having problems finding jobs, but the people who have received jobs usually have their BSN, which I will have. I have seen starting pay range from 22~25 starting, but would like more first hand opinions on pay and what I would be able to afford as far as living conditions.

Current/previous Notre Dame BSN students????
I am currently a pre-nursing student at another university looking to transfer to Notre Dame. I am a sophomore and I kinda screwed around my first year. But this past fall semester I brought my gpa to a 3.12, but my cumulative is still a 2.87. I was wondering if anyone can give me any insight to the process there. Has anyone been accepted with a 2.8?? What are honestly my chances?? The website says transfer students need at least a 2.8 but I don't want to pay the application fees if there isn't a chance of me getting in.

CNA or RN?? Thinking of leaving university
Your right and this is my biggest fear, if I do get my CNA wishing I had just stayed in school or getting to comfortable with the salary now because I am young. I also did not know you could work as a CNA after fundamentals so thanks for the tip.

CNA or RN?? Thinking of leaving university
I currently in my second year of college at a 4 year university to get my BSN. I am about to start applying to the nursing program for next fall. I honestly am not happy with the process. I hate taking all of these unnecessary classes and I'm still not guaranteed placement in the program! Lately I have been thinking about getting my CNA. Most programs I can be done in 3 months and I can immediately start working. But I honestly would like to know would leaving school and getting my CNA benefit me in the long run? I know in maryland CNA can start making between $10-12 depending on the company but will this sustain me later in life as a long term career? Will I be able to survive on my own on this salary?
