I am a new nurse and will not be able to begin my career for a few months due to an obstacle. I am seriously considering taking this time to learn Spanish as I believe it will make me more valuable to future employers. This is a major decision as I will be taking away time from other areas of my life. Please I will appreciate any insight from healthcare professionals. Will this decision increase my value? If I had to choose between speaking Spanish and working to buy a car for reliable transportation what should I do?

Thank you for your insight squidbillies, it was very informative and I will take your advice and continue searching. Like you I was arrested and completed PTI. The only thing that stands on my record is the arrest no convictions. In your experience would you bring the arrest up during an interview or leave it alone because you can answer honestly on the application "never convicted of a crime"? Thanks again!

I am a new LPN and am having trouble finding a job due to an arrest on my record involving narcotics. I assume the issue facilities have is placing me in the position to handle narcotics. Would seeking a position as an MDS coordinator give me a better chance of being hired due to the non clinical setting I would work in? Any insight is welcome, thank you.

Never convicted, charges were dismissed but arrest record still shows

I recently received my LPN license clean without restrictions. I have history of an arrest that turned up on my first job application and prevented me from being hired. While seeking expungement is their anyway I may begin working? Is there any job where I can use my license to get hired even if not nursing related? I live in North Jersey. Please any information will be appreciated I am at a stand still. Thank you.

I too am in a similar situation waiting for my license # and expecting my case to be reviewed. How long would this process take? Anyone with input please share.
