ACLS instructors
Bob, how do you get approved for CEU's for the ACLS classes you teach. Are you automatically approved to offer CEU's once you become an ACLS instructor? Thanks, Kevin

ACLS instructors
Hi Bob, Thanks for the info. I have a few more questions. You stated that you are affiliated with a training center. Does this mean that you work for a training facililty and also have your own business teaching ACLS? Does the training center find your clients? What are the benefits of being associated with a training center opposed to having your own site? What are your thoughts about marketing the BLS/ACLS classes yourself and teaching the classes at your own site? What are the requirements for BLS IT. Does this mean that you can train people to be AHA instructors? As an ACLS instructor from AHA are you allowed to teach this class in different areas( counties, cities, states?) Does this require approval from AHA? Bob, how often do you teach the ACLS classes? Do you do this full time? Do you teach other things besides BLS/ACLS, such as EKG interpretation? How long have you been teaching ACLS? Do you enjoy what you do? How profitable is this type of business or what is the potential profit for this type of business? Thanks again Bob. I appreciate all your help and suggestions. Kevin

ACLS instructors
Is there anyone currently teaching ACLS as a business? If so, what type of problems have you encountered? Also, I am curious if there has to be someone such as an instructor trainer to "oversee" this type of business or is this something I can do by myself without depending on or getting approval from someone else. Do you need the approval of the AHA to have this type of business? Thanks, Kevin

Healthcare Educators--CPR/ACLS etc. with Medical Directors
SICU Queen, what do you mean by "sign off". I have never been "signed off" by a physician in an ACLS class. I could be wrong, but I still don't see the need of a physician if you are an ACLS instructor.

Hey Bob, I am also interested in starting a similar business. I am curious as to why you would you need a medical director for this type of business? Kevin

Is there a max dose of Levophed?
From the posts I have read there is a wide range that different people/hospitals use. However, I still don't know what the max dose of levophed is, if any? I googled levophed and still have not found a concrete answer to this question. I am gathering that the dose depends on the individual. I found this info on several websites: "High Dosage: Great individual variation occurs in the dose required to attain and maintain an adequate blood pressure. In all cases, dosage of Levophed should be titrated according to the response of the patient. Occasionally much larger or even enormous daily doses (as high as 68 mg base or 17 ampuls) may be necessary if the patient remains hypotensive, but occult blood volume depletion should always be suspected and corrected when present. Central venous pressure monitoring is usually helpful in detecting and treating this situation." That "enourmous daily dose" that was quoted equals to about 47mcg/min. However, I still do not see where there is max dose. However, it does say that that "levophed should be titrated according to the response of the patient".

Is there a max dose of Levophed?
Several of my coworkers are convinced that giving anything greater than 30 mcg/min is pointless. Most books I have read state that 30 mcg/min is the max dose. However, I have also seen doses that were higher and in some cases much higher than 30mcg/min. Is there a max dose of levophed? What would be the problem of using more than 30 mcg/min? Can doses greater than 30mcg/min be therapeutic? Is there a dose where levophed just stops being effective or does this depend on the patient? Thanks, Kevin

Silly question...Where did my avatar go??
I was also wondering about my avatar. No, it hasn't "always been that way" I used to have an avatar without ever having a paid membership.
