  1. I did take the HESI this spring, and unfortunately I did not pass. The program I'm in requires you to pass the HESI with at least an 800 and I unfortunately only got 711. Therefore I am unable to continue onto my senior year. So this semester I have to take a remediation course: Core concepts in nursing and retake the HESI in December. If I pass I'll continue onto my senior year if not, I will have to take a semester off from the program which is what you have to do in that case. I was looking for a pen pal that in the same year or someone who is going through the same thing to keep in touch with to exchange positive advice etc. I definetly dont mind giving advice to 1st year students etc. The more help you get the better especially in nursing. Not passing has definitely changed my life and I'm just trying to move forward from it and continue to stay positive and pass this semester.
  2. Anyone willing to have a pen pal? I'm a junior/senior nursing student and I'm wanting to try something new and have a pen pal this semester. Someone who's willing to exchange study tips, etc or just vent about the stresses and joys of nursing!!! If interested please let me know.
  3. Hi kinkycoily, I'm willing to share the love :-) This is my Junior/Senior year in my BSN program. I have tons of advice and tips for you to succeed if you would like. Nathifa i emailed you :-) Jaluo2014 good luck to you as well!!!!
  4. Hi!! My name is autumn!! What year of nursing are you in?
  5. I graduate next year in December. The best advice that I have for you is to find a nursing buddy. Someone that you can trust and all study with. Nursing school can become extremely stressful and you need someone that understands what you're going through. Other then that study, study, study!!!! Good luck to you :-)
  6. I'm in search of a nursing buddy/friend to keep in contact with this semester. Someone to keep in contact with about the stresses of nursing school, study tips etc.
  7. Hi everyone, Im a second year nursing student. In the spring I will be taking the HESI which is required to pass in order to move onto senior year. I know that I have a while until the test but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to study/prepare for the exam. Whats the best way to study. I don't whether to use my HESI book and study as we cover topics, doing a bunch of NCLEX questions or what because I feel like its overwhelming and I have no time. Any advice would be helpful. Thank You.
  8. When calculating meds , we learned a simple way called "Do Da" Its dose ordered/dose available x amount For example the doctor orders cavedilol 10 mg tabs available you have 5mg tablets per 1 tablet....you would calculate 10/5 x 1 which would be 2 tablets. I hope this helps
  9. Hi, Im also a second year nursing student. I also didnt do to well on my first test this semester. I work but I have no kids. So what I decided to do was to first talk to my professor to see what it was I was doing wrong and come to find out I was missing just one word out of the questions therefore it changed my entire answer. Next I decided to go sew a tutor which helped tremendously. I also recommend meet up with a classmate or two to get input, bc what you have trouble with im sure someone else does and two heads are better then one. Also you have to read the chapter. Professors know that students don't read and a lot of material comes from the reading. We get podcast over our lessons which is also helpful. I hope this helps you, if not maybe I can go over some questions with you to see how you answer them.
  10. Hi, Im a junior nursing student and I still have trouble with nursing dx. From what you wrote it sounds like a good nursing dx would be either Impaired gas exchange bc of the sob or Impaired activity intolerance bc of the sob with activity. There are tons more that you can come up with but those sound like the priority. As far as intervention you want them to be pt. specific and measurable so with impaired gas exchange you could say assess o2 sat q2h, administer breathing tx per orders things like that. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions let me know and ill try to help.
