Hello, I did search before posting so see if this topic had been discussed and didn't find much but sorry if this topic has already been discussed. I'm an NP with 3 years experience working in a procedural service in a large teaching trauma I level hospital in the Boston metro area (not one of the big hospitals downtown). My annual reviews have always gone well with lots of positive feedback and praise and when I ask for a raise I always get the same response about why I cannot have a raise. "We have an institution wide pay scale dependent on years of experience that is backed by annual market research done comparing compensation for other institutions in the area." I have been told that compensation in the Boston area is low overall even in the downtown hospitals because the supply is much greater than demand, therefore, hospitals have the advantage. They don't give raises based on individuals personal performance. I feel that my salary at 103K is low for my speciality and years of experience and am discouraged. My job is a combination inpatient/outpatient position. I see patients in clinic, handle inpatient consults, admissions, discharges, rounding, scrubbing as first assist on occasion. I like my job and my specialty but at this point I am realizing in order to increase my income and get the compensation that I feel is appropriate for my work I will have to find another job. Does anyone else working in the Boston area have the same experience/understanding of NP compensation? Any feedback or insight would be appreciated. Thank you

I applied on the deadline and my application is still "being reviewed". As time goes on I am less and less optimistic about my chances.

i submitted by the priority date (i just called to double check) and they told me i would hear back in 2 weeks.

does it say on your application page that is was submitted 12/1/13?

I got the same response for FNP. I asked her if it was a bad sign and she said no, they're getting new decisions in everyday

Did you end up retaking the GRE or submitted your initial scores? (I saw an earlier post with your stats) I only ask because my GRE score is in the same range and have not gotten my decision from Vandy yet. I am an FNP pre-specialty applicant.

Thanks for this SunnyGirl, I'm ok with waiting especially if my online status will be updated but was just taken aback when I received kind of a rude response when others on this forum said how nice and accommodating they were when they called. Was not expecting that.

I just called the admissions office for my decision and was told they are working on sending letters today. When I asked if I could get my decision over the phone like they have been doing for so many other applicants the lady said in a rather rude and abrupt tone that they are very busy getting the letters out and do not have time to look up everyone's decisions.

are they being nice about people who call and ask for their decisions? I want to call and ask because I want to know but I also don't want to be bothersome since I am sure they are very busy.

has anyone who applied for the FNP specialty been interviewed? I wasn't asked for an interview and am assuming I got rejected if they did do interviews for FNP.

they told me letter

I just called and they said letters will be received this week. They also said that FNP students were not interviewed this year. Can someone confirm or deny this?

Hi everyone, I know there are a lot of threads started by members wanting to know what there chances are for getting into top direct entry MSN programs, but my profile (I think) is bordering competitive so I am not sure. I am applying for FNP programs this Fall. I majored in psychology in undergrad, GAP 3.58, GRE verbal 152, quant 153, writing 4.5. I worked in several psyc research labs in my undergrad including one that focused on developmental disorders for a year,I have done volunteer work at a hospital and shadowed an NP but I did that about 3 years ago (I am not sure if how recent the experience was matters or not), currently work as an administrative research assistant in a medical lab. I asked 2 professors I know really well for rec letters and the current Dr. I am working for the 3rd. I am taking prerequisite classes at a local community college and doing very well in them thus far. I think the weaknesses in my application are my practical lack of patient care experience (most of my previous experiences are research based) and my GRE score. I am applying to MGH, Yale, Colombia, Vanderbilt, and Northeastern. Any feedback is appreciated
