When I sent in my application, I had a 4.0 from a summer class I took at Brockport. It was my first class at Brockport and the only one I had taken. My fall grades weren't in yet so I reported the 4.0 on my application. Since I sent in my application, my GPA is now a 3.47 from fall and winter session classes. So I am not sure which one they will use when determining admission criteria. What about you?! I am so nervous and feel like we won't know for so long!

Hello Everyone! I applied to SUNY Brockport for Fall 2015 admission to their traditional nursing program over winter break and decided to check here and see if anyone else is also applying for admission this Fall. I am graduating from Brockport with my Psychology degree this May and decided to apply to the traditional program instead of waiting till next year to apply for the accelerated program. Any other applicants out there?! :)

I am planning on applying for September 2015 admission into the ABPNN at U of R as well! I decided to check on here to see where everyone else is on the application process and I haven't even sent my application in yet! This definitely makes me nervous because people are already getting phone interviews. I still have to get my letters of reference and all my documents sent in. I just wanted to ask you guys if you still think I have a chance? I know lots of people apply to this program because of how well respected it is and I already feel that I am behind. The deadline to apply March 1st so I was really surprised to see that people were already getting interviews!

Hi Everyone! Congratulations on your acceptances! I hope to be in your shoes next year at this time. I will be applying to U of R's accelerated nursing program. I am a little worried that I don't have enough experience though. I am planning on volunteering as much as I can over the summer and shadowing a nurse few times but I have read through many threads of applicants of U of R that have years of experience in jobs and even masters degrees already. Is my lack of experience going to hurt my application? I live in Rochester and attending U of R is my dream school. I want to be a strong applicant and show how dedicated I am to a career in nursing. Any suggestions and advice is welcome! Thank you!

Hey guys! First off, congratulations to all of you on your acceptances! I hope to be in your position this time next year :) I was just wondering if you could tell me your stats like GPA, experience, etc. I have a pretty good GPA, above a 3.5 but not perfect, but I am lacking experience in a clinical setting. Is this going to be a problem for me? I want to make sure I have a good competitive application next year. Thanks for the help!

I am looking for one more course to fill my Spring 2014 schedule. I searched the website and found that a lot of people take courses in Philosophy when they are a Pre-nursing student and completing prerequisites. My school offers a Foundations in Moral Issues course and a Critical Thinking course. Will either of these help for nursing school or just prepare for the nursing career in general? Here is both of the descriptions. Which should I take? PHIL-102 Introduction to Moral Issues This course examines ethical questions that arise in the course of day-to-day individual and social life. Some consideration will be given to ethical theory and its application to such questions, but emphasis will be on basic moral questions and practical issues. Examples of typical issues to be examined are: What are the grounds for moral obligations like keeping promises or obeying the law? How do we reason about what to do? Examples of typical moral issues that may be introduced are capital punishment, euthanasia, abortion, corporate responsibility, the treatment of animals, and so forth. PHIL-103 Critical Thinking An introduction to philosophical analysis, especially as it may be applied in contexts other than professional philosophy, but also including normative issues such as ethics and aesthetics.
