  1. I am in my first year of nursing and work in cv stepdown. We never have swans but I was wondering if you can give meds through one. The catheter is in the PA but it's really not much farther in than a CVL. Obviously you wouldn't give anything through the balloon port and I understand why you don't give meds through a regular artery. Thanks for your help!
  2. She was using it as a figure of speech.
  3. Yes I researched the site before I talked to this particular nurse about it. She said the "textbook" is wrong.
  4. I work in a cv stepdown unit and we have been seeing skin breakdown on patient's sacral and coccyx areas. Most nurses put aquacel on these wounds. Yesterday a nurse told me these dressings remove healthy tissue when changed and it is wrong to use them. She said xeroform is the best choice. Does anyone have any insight on this?
  5. Hi I am almost finished with my 3 month orientation as a new grad and I actually can't wait to be on my own. My preceptor is making me miserable. She is always complaining about how hard precepting is and she has told me numerous times that no one else on our unit is willing to do it. She is teaching me to be a task oriented nurse. While I am busting my tail she surfs the web and makes personal calls. On top of all that she won't stop asking me if I want to hang out after work. Please help me!
