  1. Thanks so much! Luckily my nurse recruiter was able to get a hold of my license # for me since I too had difficulty speaking to a "human", all I kept getting was the recording.
  2. Hi there! Just wondering how long it took before you received your license, I'm assuming you've received it by now. Just found out I passed the boards on Friday (23rd) and I start orientation March 5th.
  3. Hi guys! WOW! Books are going to cost A LOT! It's so frustrating to know that not even the bookstore knows what books we'll be needing this coming sem. And what's worse is that I was relying on some sort of aid/loan to help me pay for the books. I don't know if B&N will have cheaper prices, try half.com, ebay.com., amazon.com, ecampus.com....I normally would buy my books from random sites, (whereever I can find them for cheaper). But from the looks of it, we may have no choice but to buy it last minute at the bookstore since we don't even know what to buy yet. Still no word on Financial aid on yet either. I've only called them once, maybe I should be a bit more persistent like the two of you. :) Sandra, your list of questions/answers were helpful. I had no idea parking would be a nightmare. I guess I'll test it out for a couple of days and see if the train is a better bet. It's too bad I don't live near a train station. Let me know if there are any new updates and I'll do the same.
  4. Hi there...can either of you give me the phone number to the uniform place in Kenilworth. I have an appt for a fitting this Thursday and I need to call and confirm but the number is at home and I'm at work. If you guys don't have it, it's not a big deal. Just thought I'd take a chance in asking.
  5. Well I doubt PDAs are mandatory since I'm sure they would've mentioned it in the paperwork they sent us. I have a Dell Axim X30, I bought it for personal use more than anything so if they are mandatory I'm all set. There is actually an X50 out now, I'm used to the Windows OS and it's very user friendly. I'm not familiar with Palms at all so I can't say anything about them. I've read nothing but good things about Davis's Guide for Nurses and that's for PDAs and there are also medical dictionaries and available for PDAs while I'm sure it's really just for convenience, I'm sure they're not necessary. I'm still pretty old-fashioned in the sense that I will probably still jot things down on paper rather than my PDA but maybe it's time for change. :) BTW, I was able to retrieve my username/password for the Web Services page. I got in touch with a support tech. Thanks though!
  6. Wow girl! You're on point! Actually you probably summed it up for me. I definitely want to know what books to order, (while I have some money now). I'm sure the money situation will be extra tight once school starts. Also, I want to know exactly what classes we will be taking and when. The schedule they sent us can't be right. I've also looked into which shoes to buy, I'll probably also get shoes with no laces, (my mother is a nurse and highly recommends it). Let me know about the PDA info, I bought a PDA earlier this year, I'd love to be able to use it. It really will be useful for all of us. Thanks Sandra for informing us! Joanna
  7. It's ok, I'd go in with you to raise hell as well. It's crazy how they work. And I recall you saying how they were putting the last of the packet together last week. I can actually picture people making print outs and putting them all together and mailing it out, not even realizing that impt dates have passed, that some letters were dated June, and etc. I'd post it on their website if I had access to it myself! hahaha...would help us all out. But I'm assuming some people may not be as internet savvy as us, after all there are only 3 of us on this site, and I thought there were 50 students in this program. So I'm ignorning their schedule. I can't seem to get on student web services ever since they updated last week. I was on hold for 15 mins last week trying to get my username to no avail. This is going to be a frustrating 15-16 months!
  8. Hey there! I did the same this morning as well. They are making appts for the 25th onwards and the only evening days are on Thursdays for a fitting. I've also emailed Lesley Perry (Associate Dean) and Ian White (Registrar) in regards to the Nurse Pac situation. I'm still not pleased with their organizational skills. Many of the letters sent with the package are dated last month, this month, etc., also the schedule cannot be correct. For instance one class overlaps with another and from what I recall the program consists of 16 classes in total, and from the schedule sent there are 12 for the Fall sem alone?!?!?! That can't be right, although I'm not familiar with Block scheduling, maybe one of you can explain it to me, otherwise I'm assuming that schedule is for the Fall and Spring. Who knows, they should better explain it during the orientation. :stone Joanna
  9. Hi there! I've finally received the information about the program today in the mail. I've only briefly scanned through the paperwork, but it includes everything from our schedule as well as what to order for the upcoming sem. Sheesh...it's about time! Now, I'm still waiting on financial aid info. Let me know when/if you guys get it. Joanna
  10. Hello all! I also found out last week that I was accepted (provisionally though since I'm lacking 1 pre-req), but for the Fall term? Maybe they meant Spring? But I've decided to attend UMDNJ because of it's closeness. Good Luck to those going to Drexel!
  11. Hi everyone! Just checking to see if anyone is entering UMDNJ's Fall Accelerated BSN program, if so please contact me. Maybe we can all meet up one of these days before the program starts. We have a long and tough 14 months ahead of us. :uhoh21: Joanna
  12. Hey there! Congrats on your acceptance! I actually just heard back from Seton Hall last Thursday (got in) and just got some feedback from students who are currently enrolled in both schools. Are you favoring one over the other? I'd like to know which you choose. I'm most likely going to UMDNJ, let me know if you are too.
  13. Hi everyone! I also applied to the ABSN program for March 2006. Drexel isn't my first choice, mainly because I live in central Jersey, I'd have to dorm or find off-campus housing. I do love the Philly area and also found Drexel to have the most ideal Accelerated BSN program since it's short and sweet. What I don't get is how come the 80+ credits? That seems rather high! I've been accepted to Seton Hall and UMDNJ and their programs are no more than 64 credits and that's in 14 months! I'd love to hear from someone who can convince me to stick to Drexel's program. (pros & cons) And I want to know when decision letters are sent out! (when/if you get one..let me know..**please**) :) Joanna
  14. Are you looking to get your Nursing degree soon? If so, I suggest Seton Hall's Accelerated program (if you have the money and or don't mind taking out NUMEROUS school loans). Your other school options are (since you have a degree) are UMDNJ, FDU and Rutgers.
