How to follow my dream career??
Hello, My name is Ria Smith and I was looking into some info on becoming a RN esthetician and I found this email as a reference on Indeed.com I am a student who has received all my pre-reqs for nursing school but I just recently got rejected from my first choice nursing school. I have a pretty average GPA from a very well known school in my area with some volunteer experience and I based my personal statement on my passion for nursing combined with aesthetics. However, I really feel like the reason I may have been rejected is because the school I applied to is so traditional with nursing and they really didn't understand my career path (the dean of admissions even told me at an open house she didn't know what a nurse esthetician was) Nevertheless I still want to pursue this career and don't really know which direction to take as far as going to nursing school first or getting esthetician training first. I'm pretty much just lost on what is the right decision on everything and would really appreciate some advice with an experienced professional. I would really love some input before i move forward. Thank You

Aspiring skin care nurse HELP!
Hey everyone, I am very lost right about now. I just found out that I have been rejected from my school of choice to receive my BSN and don't really know where to go from here. This is my situation In 2010 I started a partnership program at UMBC do 2 years there and 2 years at UMSON Unfortunately I could not complete my pre-reqs in 2 years (3 instead) so I was left to apply to UMSON as a regular applicant. I thought I was a pretty could applicant. I have around a 3.4 GPA and A's and B's in all my pre-reqs except a C in one lab. I am very passionate about my desire to be a nurse esthetician as well. I don't think UMSON really understood my career path because when I went to the Dean of Admissions she didn't know what a nurse esthetician was (probably my hint to not apply to that school). Nevertheless I still wish to pursue this career and I am confused on which path to take. I know I will need to be an RN but I don't know if I should still pursue a BSN since I have 3 years of education from a 4 year university or just get my associate's . In addition I will also have to go to esthetician school, and since i was just rejected form nursing school maybe I should go here first. There are so many options and paths to take, I don't know what would be best. I also don't have an trusted mentor or advisor to talk to that knows enough about this career choice. If anyone could offer some insight I would really appreciate it!

UMSON BSN Spring 2014
hey everyone! from reading posts from past semester applicants some people's status never went to "commitee ready", it remained "complete and ready for review" until final descisions we're made such as "provisional admit" and "admit" etc. so try not to stress!

So the personal essay has to be 200 words? From the website I got the idea that the personal essay was separate and could be submitted with the application, if preferred. There was never any indication it had to be 200 words or less. I made mine about a page single spaced, so around 500 words. Hopefully this doesn't effect anything.

hey meowbark, if you submitted any of the supporting materials before submitting the app, for example your LORs, you need to call the admissions office to make sure they received them and put them into your file. Goodluck!

UMSON BSN Spring 2014
Hi Everyone! I sent in my app yesterday (after taking a summer class, i've been doing nothing but editing editing and more editing for my resume and supporting essays). I submitted the app online and about two hours later it was received but as i'm submitting my supporting materials I need to know how long it takes after submitting them do they get received. Most of the materials I'm submitting electronically like my personal statement essay, transcripts, and resume. Does anyone know how long it takes??? Also, I wanted to know if anyone submitted the pre-req course list electronically or does it have to be submitted my mail. Thanks!
