  1. I've found many jobs and had trouble with my coworkers.
  2. I really have no idea as I know nothing about the U of Washington. Being a nurse isn't all its cracked up to be. I just passed a year since graduation and feel like I have nothing to show for it.

Apparently I have trouble with interpersonal relationships. Way to judge me though.
  4. When will you know for sure? IE: when does the program start?
  5. Keep me updated. Hope you get in!
  6. just_keep_swimming did you get in? After reading this whole thread I have to know!

Hello all, You all have given me wonderful advice in the past, so I was hoping for some before I start my new journey. I've had a hard time keeping a job (and it's incredibly frustrating!!) and this one HAS to stick. I landed a job in a fairly busy ER. I plan to do my year (or 2) and head back home. I had to move 2.5 hours away from my family, which isn't terrible, but I already miss them and I have been here 2 days! So if anyone could give me suggestions on how to act in the ER, what to expect, ect, I would appreciate it! Thanks!

To the last poster - sorry I didn't get your user name ^^^ - Thank you for your input. I believe you are absolutely right about all that you said. Yes, the person I am seeing seems to genuinely want to get to the root of my problem. He understands that I need more than talk therapy. We already know I have a disability (called Non-verbal learning disability) which is a rare diagnosis. Unfortunately no one in the nursing world (managers and such) want to hear this. The psychologist who did my assessment even wrote that because my disability was so LESS severe than most given with this diagnosis that he thinks my outcome is FAR more favorable (testing done at age 10 - may have someone retest). I know he is right - I just need help finding out how to fix this. I've definitely improved since I was a little girl but there is still improvement to be made. I just hope I haven't burned all my bridges, since I have gotten jobs and been fired with both of the major hospitals in town.
  9. Looking at all the different posts on here, I realize how lucky I am that I got into a great school and finished my BSN degree. I also feel blessed that I was able to land 3 nursing jobs (2 hospital, 1 out patient). Since I have been fired from them all, I'm starting to think that maybe I wasn't cut out to be a nurse. I spent a lot of time and money to become a nurse, but my interactions with my coworkers are holding me back. As an update: I am now seeing a therapist after the suggestions I received on here. But the real question is, should I just give up and do something else?
  10. Can you make it allow me to send PM messages? And thank you for the advice. I know all the things you said, the problem is I have no idea when I'm going to do something wrong. I wish there was someone like you who I could work with that would help me.
  11. SioaninnRN, it won't let me send a PM. Can you send me your email and we can talk that way? Thanks.
  12. SionainnRN I don't really know how to use this site so if you want to private message me first? I'm hoping to get a job in an ER. I think it is the best place for me. I am just struggling since I have that new grad status. Thanks for saying I am brave, but really I was just hoping to get some advice. I'm worried about my future. I almost don't want to be a nurse anymore.
  13. elizabethmeiereRN I don't know what it is. I like to think I am easy to get along with, but it appears that I always say the wrong thing. For example: I had to call 4 numbers to find out that the dr I was looking for was on my floor. So when he came out of a patient room I told him so, and he got real upset. I often think it is my tone as well. I'm unsure how to change this and now I'm back at square one looking for a job All my references from nursing school say I can't use them since I am too far out of school, so I'm definitely feeling pressure. I went to school in Philly also. Interesting how we both ended up on this side of the states!
