Choosing between two programs; more clinical hours better?
Thank you canigraduate, RN . What you said is the advice given to me by a 30-year nurse veteran. He said that he looks for graduates from the more expensive school I mentioned, as well as from certain diploma programs; he said that he is frustrated with new hires who do not have strong clinical skills. And, thank you springchick1, he is in agreement with what you said as well! Thank you all so much! I can't tell you all how much I appreciate your generosity in taking the time to help me! :)

Choosing between two programs; more clinical hours better?
Hello out there! Thank you to those of you who may have time to help me. I am caught between my two final choices for nursing schools. Both have great reputations for their 2-year BSN programs. One school, much more expensive, offers many more clinical hours experience. The other school is a much more affordable state university, and it is close to home; they will also attempt to accommodate students' schedules for clinicals, which is great for me with children at home. Any thoughts as I am concerned that more clinical hours may be important? Will more clinical hours make me a more appealing job candidate after graduation? Thanks!!

I think I might be in the wrong field
Why not go back to Pharmacy? Try pursuing what you really wanted in the first place! Is redoing Chem 2 an option? I was intimidated by Chemistry when I first went back to school, but it took just one great professor to set me at ease; now I miss and crave science courses! 27 is so young. Please don't get hung up on your age. Women are always evolving. Many of us are starting new careers well past our 40's ;o Men, too! And, my mom at 89 says that you may have a few careers in your lifetime! Perhaps you can find a quiet place to spend a good amount of time and listen to what is truly within your heart. Best of luck to you. Please update?

Bullied by Clinical Instructor
Please, please, please go to your the Program Director, the Dean, the Associate Dean, and/or the Department Chair, immediately! You may regret it if you do not. I had a very similar experience in my first clinical rotation, and it wrecked me emotionally. I get it that we are supposed to be 'tough' (I prefer 'strong') to be nurses, but in what professional setting is bullying acceptable? I was blown away by the lack of professionalism with my clinical instructor. She told me to get used to it because that is how it is in hospitals. Bottom line is that your instructor is holding the cards to your future! Do not let her take away your dream. I am set back a year because of my issue . . . Please take my advice and take your problem to the top. You are paying a great deal of money for this education. Remember it works like this: You are paying for a service that she should deliver. You do not work at that clinic or hospital; your instructor works for you!!!!! I can totally relate to the anxiety that takes hold of you . . . Please take good care of yourself. Protect yourself. I am rooting for you!!!
