  1. Understanding the Kidneys. I am working on 10 questions that we have for an assiment. I am stuck on a couple though.. mainly though this one ( for now ) Does glomerular filtration change with age ? I know it does. But just cant seem to find much anywhere on it ! any ideas?? this is my answer so far Aging is accompanied by decrease in cortical nephron population and a reduction in renal mass which leads to decrease GFR. The average GFR in a male is about 125 ml/min but this value decreases by approximately 1ml/min/yr after age of 40. The medullary nephron population is relatively preserved and age-related vascular changes in the medulla are minimal. Despite the decline in GFR with aging, the serum creatinine concentration does not increase because there is also age-related decrease in skeletal mass. Although renal function is diminished in elderly, it is sufficient to maintain homeostasis under normal circumstances. However, the renal response to common stress can lead to renal insufficiency. (Stoelting & Hillier, 2006). BUt I think it is just to clinical , she wants it simple so she can see we understand

I have an assignment due on May 19th , that I am working on and would like to get some others input as I do not work in the Burn unit but it interests me greatly. These are the questions in which I need to answer: 1. Describe the chosen nursing area and outline it historical development 2. Describe the role of the enrolled nurse in this area of Nursing ( For americans this is a 2 year RN ) 3. Discuss the particular needs of the patient and explain the nursing care required to meet the patients needs, including any specialist care 4. Outline the professional affliliations for nurses working in this area and any further education which may need to be undertaken 5. Briefly discuss possiable career pathways, for example community or acute care settings I have like I said started working on these questions. I have to do a 15 minute presentation on the Burn unit ( I chose this subject of nursing I am interested in) I have tonight FOUND A BOOK IN AUS of the Burn Unit at Griffith University!
