Is a BSN needed in nursing today?
Hey Tweety! I'm in the same boat with you, as far as age and future ambitions. I also believe that education never goes to waste. Its nice to know that I will have more options if I choose to change direction. Happy Birthday! GM

UCONN Anyone?
Hi There, I am very interested in attending UCONN School of Nursing. The advisors at my current community college say that it is virtually impossible to get in. Not only do you need a 4.0 average but there are only a small handful of slots open to transfer students. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks so much!

UCONN - Any insight?
Hi There, I'm in the pre-nursing stage and looking at programs in my area. I am very interested in the University of Connecticut. I have been told by my advisors to forget about it as it is almost impossible to get in. Does anyone have any insight into this program? Thanks!

Columbia - High Crime Rate??
Hello everyone, My husband and I are thinking about relocating to the Columbia area in the future. This part of South Carolina seems to have a lot to offer but it also appears to have a high violent crime rate and property crime rate. Is this information accurate? Also, any suggestions for other areas of the state? We have children and would be interested in good school systems and the suburbs appeal to us the most. Of course a great hospital nearby would be ideal! Thanks for any info!

RN Programs-CT Community vs Private (Help!)
Hello Everyone, I'm brand new to this site. I'm in my late 30's and I have decided to go back to school for nursing. I am a full time student at my local community college. I have tried to make my choices based on locale as I have 2 young children (in school) and a husband who works a 12 hour rotating shift. I thought I had finally made up my mind and decided to take my core classes at this community college (which doesn't have a nursing program) and transfer to St. Joseph's in West Hartford but now that I have had a chance to read several posts, I am unsure. It sounds like there are a lot of great programs out there in the community colleges, albeit they are a distance for me. I am also concerned about the lengthy waiting lists. St. Joseph's is really expensive as it is a private school and I will receive little if any financial aid but my husband and I have decided to live with the fact that we will have major student loans to pay off (not the best situation but we will do what we have to). I really want this and I am very committed. Eventually, I would like to apply for the CRNA program at New Britain. I really would appreciate any advice or input anyone can give me. Thanks so much! Michelle
