General anesthesia and memory loss....
82 year old woman good health prior to surgery went in for surgery for removal of bladder. She was then dx with diverticulitis during surgery and the dr opted to reroute the colon and therefore she has a colostomy and urostomy bags. She was under general anesthesia for 6 hours and after surgery she was delierious for 2 weeks post surgery followed by severe memory loss that resulted in extreme depression, withdrawl, loss of appetite. The question is can general anesthesia cause severe short and long term memory loss? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

Financial aid questions
I've just started nursing school this spring and I have a question about the financial aid form. They ask about the amount of $ in your checking/savings accounts. Over the years I have been saving to buy a house so I have like $10,000 in my savings account. I really don't want to dip into my savings for school and living expenses. It took me a long time to save that much. Is it inevitable that I will have to plunder my savings to get through school?? Or am I still eligible for finacial aid in some way? Just wondering....thanks all!

Advice needed about my clinical instructor
I'm a first semester nursing student. We are learning how to give meds in our clinical. I really like my instructor most of the time. The other week 4 students were set to give meds at 0900. We did all the research and checked all the meds. It took her almost 3 hours to supervise 4 students giving meds. The meds we were giving were not complicated. The problem was other students coming into the room and asking her questions about their "pie" and other things while she was supervising us giving meds. She also left the room of another student who was giving meds about 5 times. She seems easily distracted. I was getting annoyed and the nurse on duty was getting annoyed because the meds were late. Finally I suggested to her that maybe the other students questions could wait till a student was done giving meds. She said no....she could answer other students questions and watch us checking/giving meds at the same time. It kind of concerned me because I felt like she really wasn't supervising me that closely. Any advice or input from nurse educators out there?
