  1. :angryfire After being discharged from my job in the local ED I heard from a friend that still works there that they hired a new female nurse full time that had been prn. Turns out that she was fired from her last job for falsifying records and being caught in the narcotics room on a floor that she did not work on and it was her day off. She was then caught taking narcs from a patients med bottle red handed. She simply walked out and the nurse coordinator for the ED did not even report this to the state board. How are we supposed to feel when things like this happen and are simply swept under the rug because SHE has friends that don't want her to get in trouble. She probably already has another job and therefore another chance to steal narcs. Should I report this to the state board? She has no business giving care to patients and I think that the people that are protecting her should be put in front of the board. Any suggestions/comments. :angryfire
  2. Why are nurses held to the higher standard? we are human too. However there is still the question of men vs. women. The good ole boys network. I am a man and wish I could find a connection with the network.
  3. There is a (doctor) and I use that term lightly, here in n.c. that has multiple convictions for using and selling cocaine and he still has a license. His license was suspended for a short time and now the only restriction that he has is that he can't write for schedule 2narcs. If the same thing happened to a r.n. we would never have a license again. What do you think?
  4. There is too much of this do as we say or we can and will make life hard for you. Do some research in the hospital handbook/guidelines and see if you can find a loophole. If all else fails tell them that you are allergic.
  5. The thing is if I find an attorney they usually cost a great deal of money. I live in north carolina where the good ol boys network is still rampant. I hope I may be able to find one that will work on a contingency basis. It has greatly affected me and my family. I need to work and put my skills to good use. They stood by me through my edu.. and now they need some of the rewards.
  6. :angryfire how many male rn's out there have experienced discrimination in the workplace? I was terminated from my job in the ED of a local hospital for a rumor that was spread about me and had no truth at all. I was able to get unemployment benefits and the hospital filed a protest to no avail. I now find that I have been actively blacklisted by this former employer and am in the process of filing formal charges. It is illegal in n.c. for former employers to do this. It is hurting not only my career but the entire nursing field when things like this happen. Are there any others out there like me? :angryfire
