OCN 2017, insight
Hello my fellow oncology nurses! I took my OCN exam this past week ... and I PASSED! If there is anyone out there who's preparing for their exam looking for direction or insight, here it is! RESOURCES I USED OCN EXAM BLUEPRINT .. I had a copy EVERYWHERE! In my binder, on my desk, on my wall directly in front of my desk, and my fridge I used this to study faithfully! Core Curriculum Textbook and Study Guide (Purple Book) .. I went section by section in the textbook and then answered the questions in the study guide book. There were A LOT of select-all-that-apply questions in the study guide, there WERE NONE on the OCN exam. Honestly, I did not like the textbook but I sucked it up and used it. OCN SECRETS book ... I ordered this book from Amazon. SAVE YOUR MONEY! :) OCN Practice Questions book from Amazon .. this booklet had two 165-question tests with GREAT rationales! Get this, thank me later! ONCC Practice tests A, B, and C ... I purchased the bundle from the website and used these practice test two days before the OCN exam. Really close to the structure of the OCN exam itself! I attended a 2-day OCN Review and a 2-day Chemo/Bio therapy class about three months apart. THE OCN EXAM ... (of course, I can't give too much information/questions away) First thing first, the security clearance is kind of ... extreme! Honestly, I WAS NOT prepared to take a 165-question test (I was lucky to have 90-ish on NCLEX)! I was only taking 50 practice questions at a time to prepare for this exam (bad idea, PREPARE YOURSELF)! You can mark questions and return to them later, this is good and bad. I nearly marked 80 questions ... and honestly I only changed 5 answers among that 80. KNOW YOUR MEDS! KNOW YOUR MEDS! Does this sound familiar from NCLEX? Yea, KNOW YOUR MEDS! Many of the meds were fairly "frequently used" .. maybe 2 I hadn't seen before! of course, generic names It seemed like there was a question from every sub-category of the divided sections on the blueprint. LOOK AT YOUR BLUEPRINT :) I finished my test in about 1.5 hours so I was convinced I failed. After clicking submit my score DID NOT pop up so of course I was panicky because I thought I would see the screen thankfully, after sitting to get the print out ... I PASSED! Screening, Carcinogenesis, Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Symptom Management, Oncological Emergencies, Psych, professional .... IT'S ALL THERE! Don't think "oh I won't get any of that" YES, yes you will! I was sure I wouldn't get any clinical trials ... yea right! I was wrong! ANC

NCLEX-RN MAY 2015! Mississippi
Qteapi, thank you! I'm overwhelmed myself, it's so surreal! God did that thing for me!!! Lupe & nursepeaches: I enjoyed using the free trial but I only took two 75 question NCLEX practice exams - I felt like I knew nothing while taking PassPoint exams and had a 7.5 on one and 8.0 on the other so that speaks for itself, I think it's great idea to do question though especially if you have your content down! NCLEX itself was a very straight to the point exam ... no fluff and congestion! ATI was my main source and it definitely contributed to my strategies for NCLEX!

NCLEX-RN MAY 2015! Mississippi
So took my NCLEX-RN today, I've visited this site numerous of times everyday since graduation which was May 9,2015 and trust me I've been one ball of nerves since scheduling my date. I attending a community college with a fairly high (98%) pass rate! During the program we used ATI and Sylvia Rayfield 'Made Insanely Easy' products - which included the Rayfield Review and Virtual ATI at the end of the program! While preparing for the NCLEX I studied a lot and I PRAYED A LOT because I knew I needed God to be by my side! The products I used included: *Hurst Review notebook (I'm a broke college student so I used my sister's notebook from when she took the Hurst Review) *Free 2-week trial from Lippincott PassPoint *Sylvia Rayfield NCLEX-RN: 101 (love the questions) *Of course, ATI! *Also I used the free 65 questions from NCLEX Mastery (I did not buy the full app... I'm broke) lol! I went into that testing area with baby butterflies but feeling confident, when I sat at the computer I wrote one of my favorite verses on the white board they give out (Luke 1:37), prayed & hit the road running! My NCLEX shut off at 75 questions - I freaked the freak OUT! A plethora of SATAs and D&Ds, 1 EKG question, and 1 calculation question - so either I failed horribly or I completely kicked that test's butt (and I'm leaning towards the latter)! I prayed & prayed before, during, and after that test. (Luke 1:37, Jeremiah 29:11, Psalm 20:4 - my verses I stood on during prep and testing) Yes I tried the PVT (I couldn't help myself) - got the GOOD POP-UP but of course I'm still nervous! Hopefully I will see a license number in the morning (I live in Mississippi & they're fairly quick with putting up results)! Goodbye LPN & hellooooooooo RN:yes:

Took NCLEX-pn this morning..thoughts
I took my NCLEX-pn this morning at 8 am, tried to register with PV again and got the GOOD POP-UP! (praying it works) Mississippi resident... The test was kind of a challenge to me b/c it wasn't what I had prepared myself for in my 9 days of review. I was so focused on the disease processes, drugs, and lab values! PLEASE YALL don't forget about the fundamentals!! :) I took only about 60 minutes on my test and it cut off at 110. I was more nervous going out than coming in honestly. My Plan of review: 1) My school worked through ATI to I had the virtual thing .. blah, blah, blah! I did not like virtual ATI at all. I didn't wait for the "greenlight" from my tutor. Let's just say after Med-Surg dumped virtual and did a few of my old ATI test to compare results 2) Mosby's Comprehensive workbook: I did the Med-Surg portion. I read the rationales closely to understand why I missed a question. 3) My school had the Sylvia Rayfield review in June so I used that workbook and really read the rationales. .... I don't have money for expensive review programs so the above is what I stuck to, also looked through old notes from class.
