  1. Hi, Congrats for making this far. It took me about more than a month to get a job. I would definitely send out a 1 pg cover letter attach with a 1 page resume. Go over it with someone at your school. Although it says job experience needed, just apply. Treat job your hunting like a full-time job. It's kinda nice when even when your hired, that is when other place's start to call for interviews. Don't be discourage it well take time and perseverance. I hope this help. Good luck! Sincerely, Cindy
  2. Go to your school library. They should have a lot for you there... Hurry they might be rented out. I find that Saunders Comp.Rev. helps and Kaplan. Good Luck!
  3. Hi, I would go to your school library and rent Saunders Comprehensive Review and Mosby... It will save you money and it's also helpful... 58% is good but keep taking questions every day till 2 days before your exam! Flash Cards on Study Blue=Lab Values . I hope this helps!
  4. Hi, welcome future nurse! The first quarter will be hectic because the adjustment of taking in more work than other reg. college classes. I had 4 exam every wk and to read 8 chapter/wk. No joke and having to answer q's within 1.3/ minute;it was insane. I thought I couldn't have made it but I did:nurse: Do not cram, always ask for help, know your lab values and A & P, prepare to dedicate time for studying, and be organize. I had to teach 80% of the content to myself, our instructor are busy. I don't blame them. We started with 66 students and end up with 47. Sadly, not enough instructor. If I had trouble , I usually just "you tube" it and I find it more helpful. I hope this tip helps and I wish you the best of luck!
  5. Thank you !!! It was def. scary but it lasted for about 15 min. I sat and talked with the assistant manager and with an LPN that works there. They were very nice and had explain what its expected as a O.R LPN in the the labor and delivery unit and that they need someone who can think on their feet... Pretty much someone who can handle a high stress job. They ask me about my background and value as a team. It's also nice that she reassure me that other interviewers don't have experience either and that's what she is looking for because she want us to be trained the way the team likes. I feel great about it but it will take weeks to hear back due to the summer and HR issues. I am now waiting and praying. I will still be on the Job hunt.
  6. Hi everyone! I have an exciting news, I just received a call this morning for an interview at the Birthing Center. Yes! My dream job and my first interview. I am very nervous. I know it's just the beginning for me because I am a new grad. I started my job hunt July 22 and applied to about 16 places and got denied 6/16. I am so lucky to have this opportunity. Thanks to my commitment in volunteering, job shadowing, and my perseverance this wouldn't have happened. Tips: Oh, sending out resume and cover letters via mail will make you stand out. I don't know the out come yet but I will keep everyone posted on my job hunting adventure!
  7. That's really great. I am on the job hunt right now and I am on a wait list for the RN program in 2015, yikes! I know you'll pass nursemami4 and thank you!
  8. Don't give up ! I enjoy the Kaplan online anywhere course and it helped me pass my NCLEX. It is pretty expensive but it is worth it. I spent 60 days studying and have taken 3000 question total with scores of 60-70%. I barrowed all comprehesive review NCLEX books from school and it haved saved me alot of money. I hope this help and wish you the best of luck!
  9. Hi, everyone! I just past my exam and it stopped at 85 questions in 2hrs with a 5 min break. I was shocked and felt like I have missed most of the questions and I had a lot of SATA... Well, from what I heard having SATA is a good thing. Anyways, I felt horrible for the next two days. I couldn't sleep because I was too nervous about my result. I know I should of stay positive but in the past I suck at taking exams. I am so thankful that I am officially an LPN. How I did it: I dedicated 60 days and study from KAPLAN anywhere class/ questions, Saunders PN Comprehensive review and Mosby PN comprehensive. It is pretty expensive but it is all worth it especially KAPLAN $399. Study blue flash cards online helps as well. We must know our lab values and nutrition. With the Nclex is all random q's so we would never know whats going to be asked. :)Don't worry we all may not know it all but it is definitely the way we answer the questions. Read it and make sense of it, then eliminate the wrong answers, use ABC's, Assessments Vs Implementation... Make sure you evaluate each answers. Each day I would do at least 50 question so about 3000 questions total. Aim for at least 65-70% on each test. Make room for at least 3-4 hrs of studying a day. Relax the day before the exam and eat a good breakfast that morning and bring a water bottle. I hope this help and I wish everyone the best of luck! Cindy
