Interview at Duke
I would say it's also important to be friendly and outgoing. They want to see that you have a personality and aren't just telling them what they want to hear. Good luck!

Resume help for a newly graduate nurse
Do you have any volunteer work you can add? Or maybe while you are looking for a job you could volunteer somewhere like your local Red Cross or health clinic. Also- if you've already passed the nclex I would add your credentials after your name at the top. You might want to also put when your cpr certification expires. And if you have the time and $ adding anything extra to your resume might help (like ACLS or PALS) Hope this helps!

Choosing between two job offers- new grad rn dilemma
So here's my situation: I currently live in CT and have been unsuccessful at finding a job since graduating and passing the nclex. I have applied to every hospital and started applying to other states because I had not heard anything from jobs in CT. So- fastforward to my present situation- I have received two job offers and need to make a decision this week and feel torn between the two. Job A is working in a sub acute/skilled nursing facility in VT. The position is 2nd shift (2- 10:30), 40 hours. The DON said rn pt ratios were 1:20-25 on sub acute units and 1:32 on locked dementia unit. The orientation would be 4 weeks on day shift and the position requires mandatory overtime. Job B is working at hospital on a medical/oncology floor in NC. The position is 3 12's on night shift. It is a magnet hospital with a new grad program. RN to pt ratio is 5-6. The orientation would be 6 weeks- 3 months, but would probably be on days. I guess my issue is that I really wanted to start my career in a hospital, but am unsure about working nights and being so far from my significant other who lives in VT. I'm wondering is it possible to go from snf to a hospital position after a year? Or is it better to get hospital experience first? I'm trying to figure out what is the best choice and what will be best in the long run. Any advice is appreciated.

Interview at Duke
Congrats hofamb! How do you like the area so far? Are you living in Durham or one of the surrounding areas? Did you (or anyone else that has interviewed at Duke) wear scrubs to both part of the interview?

Interview at Duke
Hi everyone- I recently graduated and just got an email for an in person interview on the Neuroscience unit! And another email for a phone interview on an oncology unit. Just wondering how the interview process went for other people and how long it took to find out whether or not you got the position. I am from CT and have heard that Duke helps with relocating. Does anyone have any experience with that process? Thanks!
