I finally got accepted!!
TeresaDane, I was planning on commuting for the first little while until I got settled, but my cars been giving me issues and I'm thinking about getting a place close to campus that I can walk to save money. So I have been looking at places near by. I may go sign on a lease next weekend :) I found a place that is cute, affordable and super close. Do you live close by or do you have to commute?

I finally got accepted!!
TeresaDane, I was speaking to someone from the school trying to figure out my OSAP and she told me the breakdown of the program and I was like estatic freaking out because I had no idea! Faster is always better, which means we will be working faster :)! I am counting down the days until we can pick our courses. Jan will be here before we know it!

I finally got accepted!!
Hey guys!! Sorry I haven't been online in a while. Too busy getting everything ready. I am moving next weekend! I accepted my full-time offer to Niagara College Practical Nursing Jan 2014 start!! I have all my pre-reqs, mailed in all my vaccination papers/labwork, Have my CPR HCP training completed, I asked about the criminal record check and they said not to get it now.. to wait until we start school they will give us the form THEN apply for the CRC. I guess they want it to be the most accurate and Up-to-date. So everything has fallen into place :) I am moving next weekend out of my place to stay with my boyfriend to commute to Welland for the first little while until I can find a place and get settled in my new town. FINALLY!!!! We did it :) hard work does pay off!! I also didn't know it was a fast track program which is AMAZING!!! We go Jan -May 2 weeks off, April-Aug 2 weeks off then start in Sept 2014 with the Sept-Start nursing students and we will all graduate at the same time. So that made my day when I heard that !! Anything to be done faster and one step closer to my dreams!! CONGRATS LADIES!!!

Anyone else Applied to Niagara College rpn?
Klovesedamame, Congratulations!!! One step closer to achieving your dreams!! It's been harder for us all but we did it :) That's exciting! I'm sure you can try transferring into the nursing program once you're enrolled into pre-health . I heard it is easier once you have paid tuition and have your foot in the door to that school.. apply half way through first term and see if they will do a transfer? why not! Good luck :)

Anyone else Applied to Niagara College rpn?
Hey Eliz! Sorry I haven't been on this site for a very long time. I have accepted my Full-time Offer for Niagara Jan 2014 start :) I am sooo excited to start! I heard that about dental hygiene, soo many people apply...competitive to get into and even hard to find a job after graduation. Congrats on getting in! We'll be in class together ! I actually found out Sept 18th, I just haven't been on the site lately because I have been soo busy packing and getting everything else settled for school.

January 2014 intake Practical Nursing
Update: so I've decided that Niagara college is my school of choice!! I went ahead and accepted my offer before the deadline which I'm glad I did because I later found out I'm wait listed for Sheridan (which was my last choice anyways) so I'm happy! :) I gave in my 60 days notice for my apartment, and the hunt is on for an apartment in well and which is extremely difficult and stressful when you have two dogs. I do my first aid/ CPR HCP course this weekend, I've applied for osap and everything is slowly starting to fall into place. I have to book my immunizations still and I believe the CRC isnt due until my second semester. I almost got it now but I feel like its too early BC they want " the most recent" and I'm afraid they won't accept it and will make me get a new one.

January 2014 intake Practical Nursing
Alexis04, There's no ap I checked ! Haha I have an android and just go on regular data all the time to check. I can't even count how many times in a day. I know this waiting game is killing us all! I did love the program but you have to know what you're going to do with It afterwards and its a very expensive program to do just because. I thought about being a vet I would absolutely love it!! However its a completely different degree and all my courses were English and law based..and I would need a 4 year BA plus vet college after that whixh is a couple more years! I already have debt from my first university experience I couldn't do another one. And I figured a two year program is faster..I can start working and pay off debt faster then always go back and upgrade for my RN and it will be easier for me that way. I'm Soo happy all this hard work has paid off. I only have a couple months to prepare. I can't say anything at work right now because if my boss finds out I'm leaving hell have to hire another fulltime and hell cut back my hours and screw Me over before I leave so I have to keep it hush for now until I have a plan. I can't wait until I can tell everyone I'm leaving and shout it from the rooftops!!

I finally got accepted!!
Thanks you too vwgirl55!! :) I haven't heard yet from Sheridan or George Brown it still says " under consideration' I've been checking it religiously! Good luck! Let me know when you hear. I'm going to do the same, accept Niagara and wait to hear from the others. Which school is your first choice? That's awesome you're on the ball! How much is a police check and how long does it take to come in? I still need to do everything still :s

January 2014 intake Practical Nursing
Alexis04, I know what you mean! I've been checking OCAS religiously wherever I am..even have it on my phone lol I keep waiting for an update but I have a feeling it will be another week. Nice, I took criminal juatice I loved the program and learning it...but didn't really know what I wanted to do with the degree afterwards...and knew that more schooling was involved so I took a leave. I've been working at a vet clinic for 5 years now and fulltime for the last couple years since I finished. I love what I do but I want more and the last couple years I've been working towards upgrading my pre-reqs for nursing. So quite the change up, but I'm ready for a new start :) I didnt know the colleges could see that either when you accept. She just told me..so im holding off as long as i can And omg no! I dont know when the requirements are due yet but i know i should get on that ! Ive been stressing out about living arrangments, leaving work and financws a lot in the last couple days i have a lot on my plate and deadlines to meet :s It will feel real once i have these things booked and it all starts coming together .

Loriangel14, I did read that they redid their campus which is a huge bonus. How is your daughter liking the program so far?

January 2014 intake Practical Nursing
Hey alexis04, I agree, hopefully it's soon that we hear. I got my HOAE test results in the mail a couple days after I wrote it. I guess every school is different. I didn't know that about the "experience tab" on OCAS, I'll have to check it out. I asked a representative from OCAS today and they said the other colleges received my results 3 days after I wrote it, so I guess every school is different. What did you take in university before? I also did university prior to deciding to go back. I also did the commute from Hamilton to Toronto in my last year..which wasn't too fun at all! So I think you're right, living close to campus is provably a lot easier. I will deffinately take her advice and accept Niagara now just to be safe. I didn't know I could do that I spoke witb OCAS and she said all the other colleges can see once you accept an offer and she doesn't know if that would alter their decision? Either way..its my best bet for now. I'm going to wait it out take your advice and chexk out the campuses and everything should fall into place :)

January 2014 intake Practical Nursing
Thank you! I didn't think they required HOAE testing but I really hope they get back to me before October 9 th or that's not really fair pay for all your options.. And they make you decide before you hear from them all. I don't want to decline then find out I didnt get into the others and lose my chance.

January 2014 intake Practical Nursing
Hey alexis04, Thank-you!! And congrats to you too on Sheridan!! What other schools have you applied to and have you heard back from any others yet? That's crazy that you got your offer two weeks ago..I'm thinking because you probably did your HOAE test at Sheridan? I did mine at Niagara and I heard right away from them. I've tried multiple times in the last month to get in touch with someone from George Brown but they never return my messages or emails. The only thing I received from them was saying they got my application and nothing since. I never received anything from them saying HOAE test was required for George Brown..but I did for Niagara and Sheridan. I guess they haven't received my test results yet because I check daily and it still says "under consideration".. .not declined so I guess that's a good thing for now?: p I got a hold from someone at Sheridan and she said offers have begun to go out day by day..but they are doing it in order that they received the test results. I'm assuming they don't work weekends..so maybe Monday they will post something!?!? *fingers crossed* Is Sheridan the one you plan on going to? Right now I don't know. Niagara is only giving me until October 9th to accept and I haven't even heard from my other options yet. I live I'm Hamilton and I considered commuting but I think living close to campus is my best option since I'm expecting the workload to be quite heavy. I have my own place here and a fulltime job..and I have to make decisions soon and let my landlords know imbleaving etc but I don't know where :s So there's been a lot on my plate right now I just want to have a plan. Hopefully soon. I'll let you know when I hear

I finally got accepted!!
After 3 years of university.. Almost 3 years of working fulltime... 2 years of night school upgrading courses.. And years of struggle... I FINALLY GOT ACCEPTED INTO RPN NURSING!!!!! It feels Soo good reading my offers. I heard back from two programs at Niagara college and I'm still waiting to hear back from George Brown and Sheridan!! I only get a couple weeks to confirm so now the fun struggle of worrying about financing, where to live ( keep my apartment now and commute or move to a new city), jobs while in school, and which one to accept. I also have an amazing boyfriend now who is willing to do the long distance thing with me and two bulldogs in the mix. A lot on my plate! I was wondering if anyone has been accepted recently and which schools? Anyone in Niagara region? My program would be the Januaray 2014 start So I still have some time but I would rather know my plan before I accept. I'm just Soo happy to finally be in:) Looking to meet anyone else who got accepted so far
